I'm Japanese and understand why Samsung decided to sell such a low-end device in this country.
They didn't sell the original A25 in Japan probably because wireless carriers thought its $300 (¥45,000) price was not competitive and were unwilling to sell it. As most Japanese consumers purchase smartphones through carriers, Samsung tends to comply with their preferences.
This time, Samsung has produced an affordable device for the Japanese market, priced at around ¥22,000, likely due to demands from carriers. These carriers can offer consumers discounts of up to ¥22000 as part of their wireless deals. A25 for Japanese carriers costs ¥22001, enabling them to sell it for as low as ¥1.

Dear Samsung, I would immediately buy a Galaxy A46 with a 6 or 6.1 inch screen and an SD 7s Gen 2 processor for around 300 euros. Please do so. It may even make do with two cameras, I don't care.

La Fone Dumasse, 14 Feb 2025So basically just a worsened A06 5G then? Im quite confused... moreSamsung is never big in Japan. This is just one of those $10 per month phone with 1 yr contract. Of course, since it's a Japanese market, even this phone owuld have IP68.

calling Galaxy A25 5G as "resurrect" sounds pointless
This is just rebadged A06 5G with minor difference for Japan exclusive.

GAMIR3DH, 14 Feb 2025The screen clearly looks like OneUI 7. But you had to keep... moreIf so, Samsung should be proud of Android 15 on this new entry level phone, instead they chose to say it's running "Android", without saying any version. Why?

So basically just a worsened A06 5G then? Im quite confused. Either they intentionally didnt release the A25 to Japan and made a special one for there (if there wasnt the A25 in Japan) or just wanted to make more profit (if there was the A25 in Japan). Either way, this is just a rebadged A06 5G.

They didn't resurrect anything, just rebranded the brand new A06 5G to have the same name as the already existing A25 from 2023, and I guess upgraded the IP rating. They are so stuck in the past it's incredible. Another scam by Samsung, good job keep it up.
No mention of the Android version, and even the Japanese Samsung website just says that the OS is Android, so I'm guessing it's Android 14.

Literally why does this even exist? Such a bad value for money and such a confusing name scheme.
