      I can't tell if any of you are actually American (I'm guessing not), but yes, people (both adults and children) really do get bullied for not having an iPhone. You can have a Galaxy Z Fold that costs more than twice as much as a base model iPhone and still be called "poor." It really is a cult.

        that's fine, but the binned-down chip shouldn't be allowed to carry the same name as the regular one. it's not the same product after all. Nvidia and AMD got negative attention for that kinda thing before when they offered inferior variants of a GPU with deceptive naming that didn't make it clear what you were getting if you weren't aware of it

                      Only good thing about the 16e is the chip even at it's nerfed version. The rest of the phone is what you expect to have features on a 100 euro phone

                          Are use to less features so buying new phone with less features for higher price makes so much sense. Why not go with iPhone 14/15 that price have dropped and in size are same but have a lot more features for same or less in price ? Even when dont use or dont want it makes no sense to spend a lot more without.

                              The regular iPhone covers most iPhone users on typical 2 - 3 year upgrade cycle.
                              This will be for users with even older iPhones (think iPhone 8 or older) who clearly don't need fancy features like camera and wouldn't want to spend $800 for a new iPhone.

                              Previously, the SE was also targeting switchers from Android thanks to its sub $500 price point. But Apple clearly is no longer interested in that segment. They are basically milking their own existing customers.

                              Note that this is in context of the US market. Internationally, this phone has no market. Its price will be around $700+, making it completely unattractive.

It's clear that Apple is running out of product ideas from whatever roadmap planned during Jobs' era, and their marketing is just bad now. With all the seniors leaving (Ive, Schiller, etc), and Apple's horrendous HR issue resulting in many talents leaving the company (Apple Silicon team, ML, etc), Apple is losing their footing. Even Snapdragon has leaped over Apple Silicon, especially in GPU (something Apple had a huge lead before).

                                  Let's see how long Apple can coast with their money.

                                        Honestly, I feel sorry for the Apple store employee's who may get asked which one a customer should choose between this or the iPhone 15. What a word salad of a conversation that will end up being 🤪

                                        Apple could have done them a favour and simply ditched everything apart from the 16 series. But then Apple does saddle it's sales people with the title of 'Genius' 🤔....so I guess now is the time for those people to go all in 🤷‍♂️
