It's nothin other than apple being clever with their pricing ladder. Lack of magsafe ensures that current owners of iPhones, who are used to Apple high prices will spend $200 more buying iPhone 16 and up while the price is of 16e remains attractive to new, cash cautious converts to the iPhone religion.

Why did they call it the iphone 16e? They could have named it the 16v for "vomit", the 16d for "dogshit", or the 16b for "bad value".

Clearly my decision to go for an S25+ for 1000+ euros is because I can't afford what Apple is offering and not the fact that I abhorr iOS after having used multiple iPhones and iPads in the past.

The SE3 launched at £469 for the 128gb model.
That's £130 less than the 16e which is (let's face it) a sizeable upgrade over the SE3.
Factor in material costs and you're probably somewhere close.
And the fact that Apple know their customer base and that people will buy it...

Yes you can sideload hacked apps.. that was the biggest selling point for me when switching from Android to iOS, iOS has far superior hacked apps/third party app stores. Youtube++, Spotify++, Snapchatt++, PokemonGo++, etc
You can transfer music any way you like, download it from your browser, rip it from youtube, share it in a text, etc. I have only ever used iTunes with my iPods pre 2006, there is literally no reason to ever use iTunes with an iPhone, especially considering Airdrop is superior to all other file transfer methods.
The only time you need to sign into an Apple id is when you want to use their app store, icloud, or iMessage, etc. No clue how that is such a hinderance lol
I also have no clue what you are talking about not being able to repair our own phone.. you are very delusional. I can get my iPhone repaired at nearly any strip mall in the USA within 10 minutes on my lunch break.. no phone repair stores are stocking Android screens and when they are its pretty rare.
I actually moved to iOS years ago after Google locked down root and xposed on Android and made it so you can only theme your homescreens. Android customization hasnt been a thing for over a decade mate. Up until a few years ago Jailbroken iOS was infinitely themable, but now jailbreaking is dead you have to use the stock iOS theming stuff from iOS16 and on like icon themes and widgets which makes it as boring as Android.

I still believe that the 15 or even 14 for that matter, is a far more better option unless you really want the Apple Inteligence.
The 16E looks like the least value for money among the current (already not so value for money) bunch that Apple is selling.

403 Forbidden, 21 Feb 2025> not many people want such small phones anymore.
No... moreYou basically say that people dont want small phone then make an example where smaller phone sells more then larger phone and still think people dont want smaller phones.
It's same with the S25 sold vs S25+ where the difference is only the phone size and battery charging speed. And the sold numbers show that people want the smaller phone. And it's not cause the S25+ cost more and people dont buy it. Well if the problem be in price then why would they then buy the standard S class and not get something like A55 that is also big phone like the S25+
iPhone standard to iPhone plus and then S25 vs S25+ are the best examples to give on trough sold numbers to statistically say that when people buy the smaller model then people want smaller phones.

xPandamon, 21 Feb 2025He was talking about the modem, so were II didnt read what you wrote as i read the part of a post that reply to you and it contained no modem or magsafe in it. There was only talk about 1st generation and that it's normal for 1st generation to have problems.
While it's not a first generation in any way shape or form as it already have a number 16 that means it's 16th generation. They now basically made the SE to be part of the generation series with the name change and new body size with bigger screen

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2025Nobody, and I mean literally nobody, is interested in some ... moreYou clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
I am currently using iPhone 14 Pro Max as a workphone due to corporate policy alongside my personal Realme. Hardware wise the iPhone looks like a relic next to the Realme - it's bulky and heavy as hell, its bezels are atrocious, it's "Dynamic island" turd is an eyesore, it's display is nothing special just as its cameras, especially at night. The only thing, that gives it away that it's a premium phone is maybe the really great speakers ad battery life, nothing more. I am not going to discuss the software in detail, because it's personal preference, but this is my third iPhone in a row and I hate every minute, when I have to interract with iOS and its shitty design choices and restrictions.
The realme on the other side is slick looking, sturdy built, much lighter and easier to hold, it does not feel cheap or hollow at all, the bezels are much slimmer and easy on the eyes and its curved edges make the bezels looks even smaller. The display is also very good looking, fluid, bright outdoors and with tons of options for adjustments. The back also looks very funky and fresh looking with its pearly frosted back and the camera circle looks way more simmetrical than the eyesore triple cirle one in the iPhone, that collects dusts like crazy between the lenses. So yeah, I have pretty good idea what I am talking about here...

403 Forbidden, 21 Feb 2025> not many people want such small phones anymore. No... moreNope, the 15 is their best-selling device in 2024, followed by the 16 Pro Max. Guess why? Because the 15 is like $400. The 16e is $700, has a notch instead of that island, and a single camera. I can promise you that in 2025, people will go for the standard 16 instead of the 16e. Why would anyone buy the 16e over 16 or 15? Of course some people will buy it, but not many will consider it unless it's sold for like $300.
