Apple's replacement for the SE is priced closer to the main series than it is to the outgoing SE models and that is a problem for a large portion of would-be buyers.

I said it once, it should have been 300-400€ max and it would have killed the market.
Then they make money with apple services from a % of the new customers
But apple being apple...

A new Pixel 9 was 470€ the other day here in Germany, not to mention a plethora of 300-500€ options that are simply better exist

Its actually crazy; you would think that a 10-20% difference in price would be ok, "it is an Iphone after all", but 100% or more ? Crazy thinking from Apple

    Doing the math based on their own numbers.

    There were a total of 4453 votes. Taking out the 972 voting "I don't want an iPhone" (who aren't the target audience for this phone anyway) leaves us with 3481 votes. Of those 3481, 1743 said it was too expensive. This is 50% (50,0718...etc) of the votes.

    Bottom line, the point of the 16e is not to sell the 16e, it's to be able say, "look how much better the 15/16 is, and it's only a little bit more expensive! Don't you want the better phone?"

        The SE was better off being a starter iPhone at around $400

        Now it's a terrible deal. I doubt it'll hit even a million in sales

          This might make sense years down the line if they keep releasing e versions every year so an older e is like an SE. But now it is way too overpriced. I was waiting for this to try the Apple way but at this price i just don't want it

            What's even with the title? What are you talking about? Overpriced is what defines apple. All of its products are overpriced. It's not something about the 16e. If it's not overpriced, it's not apple, dude.

That's a good deal? Do you check what you can buy for 500$? This phone should not be more than 299$ for 512gb.

                                Without MagSafe I’d say it is overpriced. Here in the EU it’s €700 which is flagship pricing. For that price it should have MagSafe. Irrespective of whether old people use it or not.

                                      That chart should be a wake up call for apple. Almost 972 votes out of 4453 don't even want an iPhone. 1152 if we count the 179 who don't even care about what it is. 1743 are turned away by its price. Safe to to say that nobody but the absolute Apple fankids want this pathetic joke of a phone.

                                      Of course these people from a small group that follow tech but this gives me hope. Maybe people are capable of calling out bs, just not enough. Kudos to people!
