Anonymous, 28 Feb 2025I wonder how pixel has lifeless shots when google gives muc... moreBecuase Google has been doubling down on the formula that they were praised for almost 10 years ago, that is, crush the darkest tones and apply a lot of noise reduction in shadows to hide noise and artifacts. You know, an approach that is getting extremely stale in 2025 where we have manufacturers who have partnered with dedicated camera makers to stay away from a typical "smartphone-esque" JPEG processing.

It's funny how Google Camera ports can produce more usable RAW files than Pixel's own Google Camera app which is absolutely plagued with stacking artifacts and uneven noises.

Are their apsc really good? Indeed. But cost basically same compared to entry FF.

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2025I wonder how pixel has lifeless shots when google gives muc... morego take a shot with a Pixel, then take a RAW mode SDR shot on a xiaomi Ultra/Samsung Ultra/Vivo Pro or Ultra phone. Idk how Google processes its raws but the difference will be evident.

OneBraincelledWunkus, 28 Feb 2025There's also landscape photographers, they love the 10... moreYeah, but most photographers that buy medium format cameras mainly shoot in studios. Certainly enough, there's a good amount of photographers who also use medium format cameras for landscape scenarios, but most settle with around-50MP sensors as it's a little cheaper and 102MP is a bit overkill for landscape work.

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2025They just paid tons of money to Fuji so they could use thei... moreAnd most likely Fuji's Film Simulations which they are highly regarded for. If this story turned out to be actually true, it would be a HUGE win for Vivo.

As someone who recently got X100VI as my day-to-day camera, I must say, their straight-out-of-camera JPEG colours are quite special.

My a7VI, which is my go-to camera for any type of commissioned photography, is overall far more capable for sure. However:

                    1. Sony is absolutely no match to Fuji when it comes to colour renditions - Sony's Creative Looks are quite limited in customisation options, and they have harsh tonal transitions (e.g. Standard mode clips red into orange/yellow). S-Cinetone is my favourite from Sony because it has a very gentle rendition of shadows and renders highlights more gracefully than any of those Creative Looks presets, but for casual photography, I'll still take my custom Classic Chrome recipe on X100VI any day.

                    2. Fuji's Dynamic Range Priority is significantly better at balancing tones than Sony's Dynamic Range Optimiser because the former adjusts both highlights and shadows and uses different sensor gain settings if necessary, while the latter only lifts the shadow.

                    3. There are more options with Fuji's multi-frame HDR options, which also allow you to save a single-frame RAW simultaneously.

                    4. X100VI supports internal in-camera RAW conversion, while a7VI doesn't.

                      Fujifilm.
                      Zeiss also.
                      Nice.
                      Vivo uses Fujifilm's X processor?
                      Why not?
They will still lose to Huawei?
                      What do you think NFB?

The only camera collaboration that has ever worked like one would hope and expect was Zeiss with Lumia. Carls Zeiss produced the optics for Lumia cameras, real glass lenses on some devices that put out some of the most naturally clean and crisp photos.

Nothing ever came close to that in my opinion and the Lumia cam still gives many phones a run for their money.

The only collab that ever mattered and provided real value.

OneBraincelledWunkus, 28 Feb 2025There's also landscape photographers, they love the 10... morei myself didn't know that but im sure that's an extreme minority of photographers as landscape/wildlife photography is an immensely expensive thing and most photographers are just amateurs, street photographers or wedding photographers i'd say.

I was just pointing out the most popular thing to him as he always talks about sales

I'm not expecting this. It sounds like Vivo is trying to do what Xiaomi is doing with Leica by having more built-in photo filters.
