GregLu, 14 Mar 2025Belgian here. As much as I was reluctant to belive Trump w... moreWhat nonsense is this comment of yours?
Trump didn't ban Huawei because of bribes, which are actually legal in USA -> lobbying.

Don't act like other companies don't bribe MEPs or politicians.
Do you seriously think Apple, Qualcomm, Microsoft, Meta, Google and many others didn't bribe anyone or tried to?
Yet you didn't see that only Huawei's bribery, very interesting.
At least in Huawei's case the bribery is to avoid banning their tech in EU.

    Belgian here.
As much as I was reluctant to belive Trump when he passed the ban on Huawei; here in Belgium I've seen proof that some pro lobbyist paid so much t hat were actually bribes, hence the search in severals locations that shedded light into this. And revealed some too!
More to come in the coming weeks for sure and it's sad for Huawei to have done that, so blatanly :)

Brussels is full of lobbying and bribery, it only gets investigated when Huawei does it too.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2025A Huawei hater instigating an investigation into Huawei. I... moreYes, lobbying is a legal bribery, but only in the US. Basically US companies legalized their bribery of politicians.
In Europe It's still called corruption officially. But I don't believe MEPs are not bribed all the time, this case is just publicized because Huawei is involved.

On the other hand, the witch hunt to ban Huawei continues for many years.
Just look at what that spokesperson said, It's very telling.
Huawei is a thread, but based on what? Because It's Chinese? Then what about the rest?
Only Ericsson and Nokia are EU based, the rest are foreign companies.
It's not like they can't spy on EU citizens and only Huawei can etc.

Better fine Apple until they open up their iOS. Leave Chinese alone.

The whole world is against Huawei, as always.

Darth Caesium, 14 Mar 2025I'm sure some of this is real, but I do also feel like... moreall companies suck, if governments want to be "mr nice guy" then they should start questioning and attacking the practices of all other companies as well but well yk how it is. It's a valid and amazing step when some non-chinese company does something and an attack against humanity when a chinese one does.

Its spokesperson, Thomas Regnier, emphasized the EU's primary executive body's security concerns regarding Huawei and Europe's 5G telecom networks.
"Huawei represents materially higher risks than other 5G suppliers," and EU members should "adopt decisions to restrict or to exclude Huawei from their 5G networks".

From the 5G suppliers only Ericsson and Nokia are based in EU, so others are naturally higher risk. Claiming only Huawei is a problem is ridiculous. It's basically a witch hunt and Huawei is the witch.
If there were really risks as this spokesperon claims Huawei would be banned a long time ago.
Huawei fighting against It is not surprising, even If It's not legal.
On the other hand I would search also those who are spearheading banning Huawei, to see who is behind them. If anyone says those were not bribed, then I don't believe It.

It's interesting how only Huawei is being either sanctioned, investigated, or "attacked" in one way or another.
