My argument here isn't the motivation of those making the accusations, its the double standards of how the news is received on this site.

DaFink, 14 Mar 2025That's hardly a defence of Hauwei there. A whilst back... moreApple and Huawei aren't the same. Apple is being investigated in order to keep up the appearance to the European people that the EU allegedly protects them from America too and that the EU is strong and independent and can afford to annoy the USA.
Huawei, on the other hand, is being investigated because it has always been like that. Huawei has been portrayed as a threat from the first day. It is a western mission to kill this company in order to keep western world dominance in the technology sector alive.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2025Brushing aside Apple's illegal behaviour. My scepticism of the law itself wasn't me 'favouring Apple', I have misgivings about some of the potential ramifications of the DMA. However, I do remember saying its the EU's house, so its their rules, regardless of what I think 🤷♂️
My point stands though, Were it Apple on the end of corruption charges right now, I doubt you'd be so concerned with where the legal lobbying limit applied. For you I don't think this is about the law at all, it's about Huawei specifically.

You raised an interesting question in your earlier post though, when it comes to lobbying, how much is too much? I have a suspicion that as far as your concerned, no amount is too much for Huawei, but is way too much for the rest. it's an interesting point none the less.

Who gets to decide when lobbying crosses the line into illegal bribery? It's such an extremely grey area and looks more like targeted harassment towards a company somebody doesn't like.

Be more specific.
"They play dirty?"
You mean like the rest of the big companies
"They work for the Chinese military and Communist Party"
How do they work for them? Because they sell their products to them?
You do understand that Huawei is Chinese, right? I want to see how an US company won't sell their products to their own government or army.
Then let's allow only Ericsson and Nokia equipment, because they are EU based unlike the rest.
"There is no need for them in the EU. Period."
Who says that? You? And who are you? Just an anonymous poster.

David 040882, 14 Mar 2025Oh really? And you know that how? What's your proof? T... moreThat's hardly a defence of Hauwei there. A whilst back Apple landed themselves on the EU's ever growing naughty list for not allowing Apps stores on their devices and people on this site were positively giddy with joy.
Now Huawei it seems might have been caught bribing government officials and suddenly the mood changes to 'Ahhh poor little Huawei, why can't everyone just leave them alone' 🤷♂️
Let's be perfectly honest, swap any mention of Huawei in this article to Apple, and the comments section would be very different right now. Also, would these accusations really be any easier or harder to believe if it were a different company here?

Shouldn't the scrutiny lies on those EU officials accepting the bribes? I mean I hope those people have been sacked/impeached/not on their position anymore.
This is why I always distrust any decisions by EU lawmakers, no matter how "good" sounding they are. They are basically at the same level as corrupt politicians in 3rd world countries. The difference is they wear nicer suits and many are white.

Perhaps the truth it pretty much what I said it was all along, none of these company's are in any way better than the other. And corruption will find it's way into the EU parliament the same way it does any other 🤷♂️
