Cpt.Power, 23 Mar 2025Voted All foldabless are gimmick.
main reason fragile mai... moreYou know the soft screen doest brake, its plastic not glass. Yes it scratches easier but thats what screen protectors are for.
I dont understand haters like you. Okay its not for you, but definitely not usless gimmick.

With the screen exposed as-is, it is a complimentary device that one would only carry occasionally. It is not a daily driver you would keep as your only phone/tablet. I do like the option of it being a 3-1 device.

I always look at squarish foldable phones as a gimmick, especially when dual display solution is far more practical than it (which I can totally attest to). But in this case, it's far from a gimmick as you literally have a pocketable Android tablet. After all, it has a typical tablet screen aspect ratio when unfolded, so that is a huge win for me.
Would I buy one? Totally, but not for the first-gen model. First-gen model always have the flaws that can only fixed in its second-gen successor. Unless if you always like to be an early adopter, I'll wait for the tech to mature gradually.

DarlingYext, 23 Mar 2025It's incredibly innovative, especially from a company ... moreyes, agreed - as usual I want one, but there's no way I'll be able to get one atm haha

I think that there are no wrong answers here. It's expensive, it's a gimmick, it's unnecessary; it's incredible, it's amazing, it's an engineering feat, and most of all, it's innovative. And regardless of what you believe, you simply cannot deny Huawei's innovation here and that is to be respected in a market where we're seeing the most marginal improvements and the least innovation from one year to the next.

normal foldables are okay, a tri-fold is a gimmick, its just too fragile, love the innovation tho

Voted All foldabless are gimmick.
main reason fragile main screen which cant be protected by serious panzer glass or better.
Said preinstalled sticker wont help much against accidental drops on concrete.
Money arent the issue. If i would buy foldable it will me either Huawei Mate XT Ultimate or Pura X both are from huawei and both comes with insane specs cammera and innovation noone else have.
Walking streets in Slovakia capitol bratislava with either phone from Huawei people will be like WTF cant believe what i see.
Money arent the issue fragility is the problem and lact of proper cases which would make such device immortal or close to immortality.
Other brands arent an option because they arent this good.
And rather will support sanctioned Huawei for good of the company than giving it to a Samsung for example which several past years release same things with just different CPU and GPU but much worse in every aspect.

It's incredibly innovative, especially from a company that has been sanctioned to the ground, and shouldn't be able to release midrange phones let alone impressive hardware like this one.

If money wasn't a limit, Huawei's camera software would still be one of the key reasons why I wouldn't get this. A cropped in artificial 27mm focal length with no way to make the default 1× zoom toggle use the real 23mm focal length is stupid, as is doing the same thing with your other camera sensors.
Beyond that, again, assuming money wasn't a factor here, the fragility of a first gen product like this would make me reluctant to get one. At the same time, a tri-fold is an amazing concept that really appeals to me, so maybe I'd get one? Probably not from Huawei though, because the lack of Google Play Services and the camera software stupidity would definitely be problematic for me.

Loving my V3 ..its been heavily abused, dropped and hangs in there like new (except for scuffs on the metal, but the hinge & screens are great) ..but having that soft screen on the outside is not the best idea out there.

I mean it's amazing innovation and to be appreciated. But the chipset is so compromised for the price they are asking. 3500 euros and Snapdragon Elite then yeah sure!
