Kratos-, 23 Mar 2025Specs wise looks good just those huge bezel why I'm far from being an expert, but I think it's a weight distribution thing.Meaning It falls face first in most tests..if not, maybe that's Google's idea of the "budget"/secondary beater phone look. Like the vehicle some get to keep the nice one nice and clean.
Kids first phone, phone used when working construction or a phone for those who just want a basic phone to drive a good smartwatch (and almost never touch the phone).

Unless you want a basic and boring phone never buy a pixel. Buy a decent samsung flagship and enjoy. My dad is using a pixel and he likes my samsung more.

If you are looking for the latest in hardware don't get a pixel but if you are looking for something long lasting with robust and optimized software that even gets better year after year get a pixel.
I bought a pixel 6a for my son 2 years ago. After a year, impressed of the good experience I bought a pixel 8a. I came from Huawei and OnePlus and iPhone.
So far today the pixel 6a is still receiving updates and it seems faster and smoother than when it was new.

The side bezels of that one are thinner than the top and bottom (though top and bottom are still the same, and the corners still match the frame). It‘s only very small fractions of a millimeter so probably not too offensive. Maybe they wanted to get the device width to a specific number and completely symmetrical side bezels would have made it wider than wanted or something. But I hope this does not worsen and in the best case go back to completely symmetrical with the next chassis change.

I must be the only person on earth who is totally fine with these bezels. I‘d rather have that over what some other phone makers do (and what google did with the pixel 6 and 7 series), which is thin side bezels, then a thicker top bezel, an even thicker bottom bezel (so already 3 different bezel sizes) and then screen corners that have a different curvature radius than the device frame‘s corners. Those look truly horrible. Samsung for example had this too on many A series. Though I’m not sure if google and Samsung also had the issue with the corners. But it’s the most prominent on the Chinese brands. I think nothing is one brand that doesn’t do this at all but I‘m not entirely sure. Only brand where I know for sure that they don’t do this is Apple.

I don't think those bezels are a problem they block accidental touch for apps or anything close to the edge. The phone is great.
