Anonymous, 26 Mar 2025Even Qualcomm don't dare to use the number 4 👀2025 and people like you still believes in myth like that?
Oh come on dude. Only because related coincidence happens doesn't means it's a valid fact. I've seen several things with No. 4 and they're doing just fine. Some even got the opposite of the myth.
Also, are you never in a state where you're 4 and 14 years old? Because you're definitely still alive to make that comment.

When you need a big name, with small cash, you go "s".
8s Elite would be truly a desperate name.

8s gen 3 had latest cores. They should have brought X925 to 8s Gen 4. Reduce the performance to 8 Gen 3 level. Atleast we get the efiiciency gains that way.

Good!!! But... Does that mean we'll get a regular snapdragon 8 gen 4 and it won't have oryon cores either?

Aierlan, 26 Mar 2025They always cut back on the cache on the s series chips (e.... moreYou don't need to be an expert to get a basic understanding. CPU cache is a hardware cache used by the central processing unit (CPU) of a computer to reduce the average cost (time or energy) to access data from the main memory.
There are 3 major and 1 rare level of cache L1, L2, L3 and L4 being the rarest although it's nothing special.
Without turning this into an article
L1 is the smallest but the quickest (notice quick being the preferred term instead of fast) it is closest to the physical individual CPU cores and hence takes the least time to respond. It is also the smallest block (capacity)
L2, L3 and L4 can be linked with multiple cores at a time and are chronologically larger but also slower yet still much quicker than what we typically call System RAM
What these basically do is store key instructions (very small in size) on the ready close to the CPU since normal RAM and storage cannot keep up with the needs of a CPU. This is also commonly known as IPC (Instructions per cycle) higher the cache soze better the IPC but there are diminishing returns and negatives to too much cache as you want the each cycle to be quick rather than big (you can store more data but at the cost of how long it takes for the core to read through it)
it affects your performance when you are pegging the CPU with constant and/or random requests.
Not all caches handle the same type of task and there are way too many to list here.
The topic is way too big for me to properly summarize and recommend you read about it from trusted sources but that's the gist of it.

They always cut back on the cache on the s series chips (e.g. 8MB L3 cache compared to 12MB in the 8 gen 3,). Chinese reviewers go on about that quite a bit. Any chip experts out there that can explain whether or not that has any significant effect?

They use 8 gen 3 cores combined with 8 gen 2 caches. And the GPU is a cut down version of the 8 Elite. What an interesting processor 😄
