What they should be doing to these new chipsets isnt giving better scores in antutu, but better stability and thermal performance while also making them very powerful.

In Googling this article (all roads lead to DCS text as source). In another FLESHED OUT article based on the full text by DCS included
'DCS theorized that the speculated,"
"Conjecture"
Not a leak, and literally he could have posted this on 22/10/2024 the day after S8 Elite was announced for how little information it contains
Basically another 7 months of unsubstantiated DCS rumours are / will follow, not independently verified by another source. There are many examples of so called 'original 'DCS leaks being completely wrong, the most recent Oryon / stock Arm Cortices and architecture
This however is a significant part of this article
"and while we don't yet know exactly what the company will choose to call it, we'll just refer to it as the Elite 2."
No but Yes.
I have already commented on Qualcomm using Elite it made no sense to me then ***
Qualcomm will "follow?" Apple nomenclature CLOCK SPEED CHANGE NAME CHANGE, if it wasn't already factored into Qualcomm thinking then.
*** Elite 2 devalues? Elite incorporated devices / 1st attempt at elitism failed.
The next Oryon SoC name will be a synonym of Elite so to differentiate it from 1st Gen, so until Qualcomm announces, these specifics lack a designated name.

Foxtrot2Novmbr, 29 Mar 2025Is the File Manager and Back Button important for heavy use... morePhones with 4GB RAM can run games, what is your point?
Internet calls rely on as it implies INTERNET, you can make normal call on GSM via SIM without one, for 1200 USD, it better do that and more
And yes a proper file manager is among the most basic and necessary feature for any user, let alone a heavy one.
How do you even justify not having a back button lol 😂 it's basic navigation

Yet some phones even is still using chips like Dimensity 6300 which is much worse than 855.

Technical Sport, 29 Mar 20258 Elite 2 looks promising indeed. But is there actually tha... moreYou're right, and I do maintain a SD 855 enabled phone, but actually mobile gaming has also become an industry in itself.
PUBG/ BGMI and all other mobile games have been increasing system requirements all the time, to the point where even in the lowest graphics quality, you can't maintain a decent 60 fps for even 40 minutes using a Snapdragon 865 (talking about Galaxy S20 FE).
Now, Since 7 Gen 3 beats Snadragon 870, we're looking at midrangers' domination, but only for old apps. the newer apps will usually be heavy.
Plus, with the youth gamer wanting 144Hz combined with 144 fps, to attack quick and QHD to see the enemy from afar, we're looking at a huge performance gap. If you don't buy these elite chipsets, your opponent will and will crush you mercilessly.
Sad but truth, and all these online games are even engaging in anti-competitive activities.
A cheap chinese flagship some times doesn't have support for 90 fps in the game, although its hardware is top notch.

Trying to brag about being an IT professional... more> PUBG Mobile with HD resources - 22.6 GB
> NEW STATE - 24+ GB
> LIOS - 19-21 GB
> Knives out - 22 GB
Not a single game on this lists loads everything at once to RAM. No phone can even do that. Storage speed is nearly irrelevant. Show me two phones with the same SoC but different storage speeds and how the phone with the slower storage has fewer FPS. Oops, you cannot because it's not the case.
> Modern phones can capture videos is LOG, RAW, EMULATED COLOR SPACES, 4K 60+, 8K 30+, 10 Bit and 12 bit color and bursts upto 300+ frames per seconds for RAW DNG Files, easily saturating a measly 200mb/s
How does LOG/RAW/EMULATED/ETC affect PERFORMANCE? Show me the difference between Snapdragon 865 and SnapDragon 8 Elite FOR VIDEO RECORDING please.
Also you don't even understand the difference between MBps and Mbps. It shows how superficial your knowledge is. The former is megabytes per second, the latter is megabits per seconds. 8 times difference and you clumped it all together. LMAO.
> I couldn't care less, I'm sure people are smart enough to understand how important storage speeds are and ignore the ignorant IT Professional here.
Again, not a single argument, not a single benchmark or test, and now resorting to personal insults. Sadly, you do NOT understand in the slightest how mass storage works and is used.
I have nothing else to add your honor :-)

8 Elite 2 looks promising indeed. But is there actually that much need for performance?? People still love 855 & 855+ processors performance. If there is such a need, where are we going to use it ?? If anything what Qualcomm needs is bringing Stability and More Games support like how iPhones have specific game support and that too without heating phone too much and destroying battery life, in short, optimization.

Gonna wait and see. Sometimes SoC like these are tested with literal watercooler first to see how it performs, then once the max performance is known, they start pulling power down and make it more suitable for a mobile device. I doubt we're going to see 48% improvements, but even 30% will be impressive without a node jump.

Is there any chance that the new systems on a chip this fall will support 32GB of RAM and accordingly lead to a price reduction for the 16GB variants? Today's models with that much memory completely satisfy me in terms of features, but the price is still higher than I would like to pay. Of course, I mean phones with real 16GB of RAM, not with 8GB RAM+8GB SWAP on the flash, which are advertised in the short description as models with 16GB of RAM.
