YUKI93, 03 Apr 20251260p screen is already more than good enough, especially s... moreThat would be about 452ppi at this size, which while on the lower side at this price point I think would be perfectly fine. There's some 4K rumours going about which given the '4K' previous 1 phones had would likely be 3840x1818 (653ppi at this size) which really I think that wouldn't be beneficial. It would just drain the battery harder.

Cpt.Power, 03 Apr 2025They would do better if flagship gets 6,8 inch or bit more.... moreLet's face it, anything less than 24GB of RAM and 8TB won't be enough. And let's not forget a 72-inch 16K screen.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025I'd argue always on display makes the notification LED... moreNah, a simple dot LED Notif with customizable color variation per app is much more appealing & less power hungry than an AoD so more battery life. It also reduces Burn-In on the screen & no need to strain yourself to look at the phone just to check but just a simple colored LED dot notif with specific color eg. Green for messages, Blue for fb, Red yt, Purple for whatever you assign it to is far more convenient.

Rare? Unique? Even an iPhone can be bought cheaper - and let's face it, these are some of the most expensive phones. In addition, they offer advantageous solutions through the combination of the ecosystem.
Sony phones are interesting, but the 3.5 mm jack is not enough to choose Sony. LG has already disappeared - now it's time for Sony?
It would be a shame, but where are their phones in advertisements, where are the offers from mobile operators, where are their phones in consumer electronics stores ?

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025Why do fanboys glaze Sony so hard? Is it just because of th... moreSony is the only one making classic looking phones and a lot of people like it. Sleek design, no nothches, no huge camera bumps, etc. They look kinda professional and people are willing to pay extra money for that.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025Only losers want to get more features the more they pay. Re... moreIn all areas, winners are the keepers of authenticity. In a world where General Motors, Toyota, and BYD compete for high sales, Rolls-Royce shines with the same repetitive style and design, offering authenticity and quality to its users and being patient to surpass its competitors (Maybach and Bentley) in time. Not everyone is going to seek authenticity. Those who understand the difference make the best choice.

They would do better if flagship gets 6,8 inch or bit more.
Hope they will finaly removes useless jack and SD slot and go for a 2TB option.

Asher45, 03 Apr 2025'same outdated design' - You probably meant '... moreI'd argue always on display makes the notification LED moot, so it's realistically just the IR blaster.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025Regarding 4. How long have you not used an in-display finge... moreI use both daily. Xperia 1 III and a Galaxy S23. The in-display fingerprint reader on the S23 is absolute garbage compared to Xperia's, despite the fact that the Xperia is two generations older.
Astonishingly unreliable, much slower... makes me almost throw the phone against the nearest wall pretty much every time I have to use it, and I'm normally a very, very chill person.

Tried reregistering my fingerprints once or twice (which never even occured to me on the Xperia because that one just really works flawlessly every time for years now) but nothing helps, it's obviously simply garbage tech in comparison or a garbage implementation by Samsung. 🤷‍♂️

edit: Another huge difference is that the side-mounted reader can easily be used when the phone is e.g. laying on the table. The in-display readers require some very unnatural finger stretching to unlock the phone without lifting it up.

'same outdated design' - You probably meant 'iconic'. When you see an Xperia, you know exactly what it is. Sticking with design language rather than chasing iphone's camera placement. lol
What is this phone missing? notification light and IR blaster? It has every other feature.
Best phone on the market, given the feature set and who is making it. I could never afford one though.

Sony is rare. That's it. Special about it is if you're professional enough to use it. Sadly, not everyone is pro for it. I will only consider to buy if they improve screen pwm flicker.

Anonymous, 03 Apr 2025Remove all bezels. Its time.Unless smartphones with an under-screen camera can offer image quality comparable to that provided by Sony's current system, it's not time. And I don't think it is.

All I want for the 1 VII (and hopefully, the return of Xperia 5 series as well) is a bigger telephoto camera sensor. I never doubted Sony's excellent photo processing, but they really need to move on from 12MP 1/3.5" sensor. Never mind IMX858, even LYT-500 is a good start.
