Crisanto Jimenez, 02 Apr 2025Whoa so the Adreno 825 will have at least 2.5 TFLOPS of FP3... moreHow do you know?

    Now I'm confused...
The 8s Gen 4 sounds faster and better than the 8 Gen 3
So, the Poco F7 will be "on par" with the F7 Pro while significanly cheaper??
    Just like last year???

I got no complain about performance, but 8s gen 3 was a very worse soc for efficiency, 7+ gen 3 was better on most of the case that time, wish it would be fixed this time, not gonna get this soc though!

Poco F7 Turbo or whatever i will buy it.

cool, will motorola use this chipset in the ultra or pro version of 60 series ?

Preliminary results on Nanoreview put 8s Gen 4 almost in the same performance ballpark of 8 Gen 3.
I guess, we shall see how that efficiency pans out once 8s Gen 4 is powering different devices.

jgblanco88, 02 Apr 2025I agree as well. Having rock solid, stable 8+ Gen 1 like pe... moreHere's the thing - you are actually wrong.
There are almost no situations that require a SoC to work at its full capacity more than 5-10 minutes...literally nothing other than benchmarks, this is a PHONE, what can you possibly be doing? - Being able to run faster in that one moment where extra speed is needed to avoid a stutter/framerate drop is something you will actually notice more than being able to sustain lower performance all the time.

Don't know about other phones, but Samsung has this app you can grab - Game Plugins Plus - one of the options in it shows you the CPU/GPU load graphs and option to chart the performance - you'd be surprised how much your view on things can change once you actually see real life performance utilization.

Qualcomm’s naming scheme makes no sense. I think the best way to fix it would be to have just 4 different chips per year. The 4 series chip would be for budget phones and devices that don’t need a lot of computing power, the 6 series is for midrange phones, the 7 series is for upper midrange/sub-flagship phones where software longevity and smoothness are important, and the 8 series is for high end flagships with maximum performance. That would be a lot less confusing than what Qualcomm has now, where chips like the 8s and 7 Plus overlap

Having rock solid, stable 8+ Gen 1 like performance would be much better than these processors that end up throttling to 50% after a few minutes and take a truckload of power.

Man, Qualcomm really messed up with the naming

Claudespeed, 02 Apr 2025Increasing performance is pointless when thermal management... moreYes I agree, everyone should not buy overpriced flagship anymore if the performance is even worse than SD 7 series and D 8000 series when throttling.

Now I am surprised, no wonder why Mediatek is about to release the 9400e.
They realized that this Snapdragon utterly squashes the Dimensity 8400 on another level.

All Big Core design? Heck, Qualcomm should have named Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or 8 Plus.

Is not deserving to be called s tier since is too much for that tier.

Increasing performance is pointless when thermal management is trash and could barely maintain 50% of its performance. I would rather have a stable fast enough chipset that could handle long gaming sessions than a very fast one that throttles heavily and runs very hot.

So more like, a rebranded 8 gen 3 basically

Good thing they didn't name it Elite.
Looking forward to Realme GT7 Indian ver and Xiaomi Civi 15. Both might use 8s Gen 4.
