Weekly poll: would you buy an Oppo Find X8 Ultra, Find X8s or Find X8s+ if you could?

13 April 2025
Oppo doesn't sound keen on a global launch, but if you could get one of these three, which one would you pick?

Please just put this camera tech in oneplus and I will buy it instantly.

Mactronix, 13 Apr 2025I would buy the X8s if I could. It is really frustrating to... morealiexpress is a nice option, i always get my phones from there.

Definitely yes! The Find X8 Ultra should be available globally and would be among my top 2 favorite picks for the next smartphone upgrade. (The other one being the upcoming Vivo X200 ultra).

So, it's a pity that these phones will not be globally available. There is hoping that some of their advancements may trickle down to the next generation "Pro" models, that are still globally available.

It's really remarkable that for the past half a decade all major innovations in the camera department have come from Chinese manufacturers.
      So major kudos to them!
Samsung, Apple and Google are sitting and resting on their laurels while thinking that good Ai would make great hardware unnecessary.

The Find X8 Ultra looks great, even if the larger 6× periscope's minimum focusing distance of 100cm (!) isn't ideal. At least the combination of a 1"-type main camera, dual periscopes with large sensors, true macro on the 3× periscope and mostly natural processing is great. The flat screen is another bonus.

What isn't great apart from the minimum focusing distance of the 6× periscope I mentioned is the 32MP selfie camera and the small ultrawide. The lack of global availability is a bummer too, but since GSMArena is telling us to disregard that for this poll, I won't get into that.

I would buy the X8s if I could. It is really frustrating to see all these great phones reviewed only to find out that you cant buy one in the UK.
Oppo and Honor are guilty of this with the upper midrange phones being absent from UK stores.
Its really laughable that you can search for these phones and get sent to the UK site only for the phones to be listed as unavailable or just not listed at all.
There really are no phones that I want that I can actually buy.
Still My Oppo Find X5 has just received Android 15 so I guess if they don't want my money then there is no rush.

the ultra looks really tempting but my meizu 20 classic still holds up so i think i'll wait until the next generation to see what comes out.

Smallworld, 13 Apr 2025I would never ever buy a mediatek phone Mediatek bad = outdated opinion

Absolutely, I love my OnePlus 13 over here in the US. This is basically a better version of that. The camera on my phone already exceeds my previous Galaxy S24 Ultra (and seems to be the same in comparison with the S25U) so getting an even better camera would be amazing.

I would buy Oppo X8 Ultra if I could. But I already got one from Oppo Fam.... Jokes Aside, I would really wait for Vivo X200 Ultra and have a comparison between these giants and also Oppo X8 Ultra vs Vivo X200 Ultra vs Xiaomi 15 Ultra vs ZTE Nubia (8+ Elite version edition) upcoming unconfirmed Z70s Ultra vs Honor Magic 7 Porsche RSR vs Honor Magic 70 Pro.

More like BS to me. 4.7" is a poor size especially given the bezels. If you want a real compact phone, iPhone 13 mini.

Smallworld, 13 Apr 2025I would never ever buy a mediatek phone Because you're in your Small world, of course you won't

Don't get me wrong, the vivo is nice in its own right, but the photos being taken by the LYT800 sensor are very processed with AI, and I can't stand it.

"smallest size that sells well on the market – attempts to go smaller have not been met with success"

                              This claim is objectively false.
                              The iPhone SE with a 4.7" screen outsold Samsung's entire S line-up.
Samsung's 6.1" screen, per Samsung, is their most popular model.
And all of this without a PROPER Compact flagship haven't been done since the Xperia XZ1 Compact.

So yeah. I'm not touching any of these because none have a normal, acceptable size. None of them is compact.

                                Vaporware, expensive, impossible to find.
                                Pick two of the three.

No, I wouldnt buy anything from company that exports all scummy business practices to daughter-company realme and uses it to sabotage competitors. Also, their marketing decisions are ridiculous and I dont want to support them, especially since I live in Europe where their decissions make no sense at all (like retreating from many european markets but sponsoring overblown events like Champions league and all the "brand ambassadors")

If it came out of China, you could think about it, but it would never come out or compete against a more well-optimized Eom. This isn't a good idea...

Why should we have to choose whether or not to buy a product that will never be released outside of China?

No global release - no buy regadless of awesomness of this phone. I have played enough with Chinese ROMs. Never again! Thanks!
