vrvly, 11 Apr 2025Some companies got no 2 fold yet, it's so ridiculous. They don't sell very well....so why bother? They have awkward screen ratios, which limits app compatibility. They also compromise durability.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2025obviously no other company (including rest china phone comp... morelol, like other displays are not fragile... forget ''bendables'', I see a lot of people using broken screens, not me tho. It depends on usage, if you need MIL STD 810G phone, bendables are not for you maybe... I still remember how touchscreens came to be - the were broken way more easily than old brick phones, but well, with media age here, they were bought anyway.
Outside bending is the best way to preserve thickness for sensors - after all, fold with poor sensors is just tablet - and while new folds like oppo n3 got quite good sensors, they are downgrade from bar phones - so if you understand that 1/2'' is way worse than 1'', you wont buy it - no way.
Actually old and still pricy mate x2 got 10x zoom, still sharpest among foldables, in daylight at least. Main camera was great too, just check hi res mode here in gsma test shots - so sad seeing folds going in a way of making screen main point, to the point of turning phones into tablets that are known for poor cameras.
So basically folds now are more tablets than hi end smartphones with latest sensors and best tech.
Its also impossible to argue now with huawei devices like that, saying its impossible to make it camera centric - its obviously easy and there are examples...

Isn't that slightly short of what everyone said it sold. About 7,500,000 short? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
These sales are below expectations just as counterpoint wrote in December. At that time, sales were probably around 200-300k. Maybe less. Again, it's a $2800 phone that costs more to import. It's also not a daily driver unless you don't mind the risk. The problem is the initial figures thrown around was completely blown out of proportion. The fact Huawei has not said anything makes me think sales are lower.
I used to watch a sports show called Joe and Evan. Their motto was "under promise, over deliver."

When it came out I went to shop to check it on display, but it was broken, screen had black bleed in parallel to hinge. Went to different shop, and it was also broken, not the screen but software, it was very laggy and glitchy.

I had the chance to play with it in person at an authorized Huawei dealer centre yesterday. While I'm still in awe of the whole pocketable tablet idea, it's not hard to tell this is a first-gen product. From my experience, I felt that the screen crease on the right side is more noticeable than on the left side. Also, and I'm not sure if it's just me, but the hinge isn't completely flat. It does look flat at first, but you soon feel like the hinge mechanism is not straight.

Huawei somehow becomes sort of a luxury brand in the West for the sophisticated customers demanding something groundbreaking and different, like Italian cars. Good for them, Samsung could only dream of such positioning.
