How about enforce Samsung & Apple to adopt bigger batteries or faster charging?? That would help everyone!

This is great news. It would be awesome if we could standardize the measurement and indication of battery performance across android and ios

Also, another reason I said the requirement to provide 7 years of parts to sub-300 phones could be impractical is because most people who use sub 300 phones don't use them for 7 years.

You introduced a hypothesis/statement but not continuation/answer to explain it on why it is wrong.

The only realistic reason manufacturers "cant" do spare parts for some years after the product launched is just their greedy capitalistic mindset.

In EU you can buy up to 3 years of EXTRA warranty, so a total of 5 years(two years are mandatory).

It's neither. You can throw it away.

I thought their intentions are good, and that safety is at the heart of their ultimate motivations. I couldn't be more wrong. Eventually you'll find out the truth. And maybe then you'll vote accordingly. Or maybe you'll refrain from voting like me, because you'll realize it doesn't matter, because the only people who are drawn to power are not motivated by good intentions. Good luck whichever path you'll take :).

I think this is a great idea which hopefully will reduce the number of new devices introduced every year. Just look at Samsung, in 2024 alone they released 24 phones. Why? This is just an unnecessary waste imo. All you need is 3 devices: 1 flagship, 1 midrange and 1 cheap. It's way easier to push updates for 3 devices instead of 24 plus less parts are needed to manufacture them and to provide spare parts.

Regulations should be meaningful, any useless regulation like this one will result in higher prices and less innovation. I don't understand why EU does this, they can't see what is happening to their car makers (e,g. Volkswagen) with their regulations ?

So let me explain what will happen to phones that will be imported to EU :

                              1. Every manufacture will change their EU region firmware to have lower clock cpu frequency which reduces power consumption significantly (for example 10% reduced frequency usually can result in 30% or even higher less power consumption)

                              2. You want a better drop test ? Lets make back cover from plastic instead of glass for EU versions.

                              3. Repairability score ? yep, iPhone 16 has 7 out of 10 repairability score from ifixit compared to iPhone 15 with score of 4. Does it come with replaceable battery ? No. Does it cost less to change screen ? No. So what changed ? You just can use another genuine used display for your repair which repair shops sell for higher price than new replacement from apple.

                              4. Every manufacturer will gladly remove any extra port and slot on your phone for better ingress protection (hold on to your 3.5mm, sim card and sd card slots).

Yep I can see what will happen in future. This was the title in news from 1 month ago : "EU eases emissions rules on petrol cars to help industry". Hopefully this sticker will not result in any decision that needs to be reverted in future.

First, I live in the EU, so I did vote.
Second, the EU is making legislation for EU citizens safety and wellbeing. And I don't want 'planned obsolescence' from greedy corporations.

I should be able to use my cell phone as long as I like and not be forced to buy a new one every couple of years.

This is the best smartphone regulation they have come up with so far 👏👏👏

Why do you want to keep these stickers?
When you buy a device it informs you about energy consumption, longetivity, IP class and so on. If you bought the device, there is no point in keeping it or thinking about that information over and over again.
The sticker does nothing more than inform you at the time you buy.
