ProMaxUltraAreBricks, 3 hours agoSo this enormous brick can only be imported? Oof, just ... moreInteresting, my imported vivo X Note still works like new, and I bought that device nearly two years ago, even got Android 15 on it way before any Samsung from last year, and it's a 3 year old phone btw.

Oh, and of course you would try the spyware card as well. Do you use Google, Meta apps? Well, then there are your real spies.

"..another phone designed to be functionally crippled outside China.."

Booh, really? What functions am I supposed to be missing? Android Auto and 5G comes to my mind, but guess what, they both work. So, have you got any actual features to mention?

"Buy phones meant for your market, unless you enjoy expensive paperweights."

I'd rephrase that to the language we, normal people use. - Buy phones that YOU actually like, and prefer, unless you want to be influenced by random people on the internet.

    "..premium-priced headache built on compromises.."

Haven't had any headaches with my vivo, but I'm curious about the compromises YOU THINK the brand has.

    "Vivo's horrible software update policies."

Wrong brand, that must've been autocorrect, altough V and S aren't that close on the keyboard.

If it had 2x Type 1" sensors, it would have been an instant buy, but with 2x smaller Type 1/1.28" ones and one even smaller Type 1/1.4" one, it's not appealing!

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is a better option to me.

IMX363, 3 hours agoThey all do post processing, but the Chinese manufacturers ... moreThe first photo shows you the sheer amount of details captured by the camera which directly contradicts with "smoothening" notion you're trying to convey. It's a tad too sharp for my taste and if I were editing this photo from a RAW image I would try to smooth out the skin a bit more to hide pores, but none of this has anything to do with AI.

The second photo was taken in a low-light scene, where the other phone is failing to capture anything remotely attractive, not to mention the image resolution is so small that you can't really make any conclusion out of it regarding the detail rendition.

If I were to take a portrait shot in low light with my dedicated camera, I would most likely employ a flash, meaning it would turn out to be like the second image. The first image looks like utter rubbish due to severe underexposure, and I would cry if my photo turned out to look like that lol.

Very clever🤷

Nick Tegrataker, 4 hours agoWhy specific to Chinese manufacturers? Pretty much all manu... moreThey all do post processing, but the Chinese manufacturers specifically take it to the next level. The level where it's completely unrealistic and starts to look like a 3D rendered fake. I think it has something to do with cultural differences. There, smoothing skin and rendering fake photos must be normal, they don't care if it's real or not as long as it's looks "good". Even though, it looks terrible.

                    Check this: https://i.imgur.com/ov34qYx.jpeg

Does that look good to you? It looks like a 3D character out of a video game.

In the example below they are comparing it to some phone, I am guessing an iPhone, which is supposed to be worse, but I personally prefer it. The top photo is real, you can see a real person in it. The bottom photo is an uncanny valley fake render.

UHCG did not help 200 Pro. Accept that gsmarena thinks its results are inferior to vivo phones with lyt900.

Ellio74, 3 hours agoI don't know what to call the camera protrusion thing ... moreIt was such a weird comparison because the resolution chart they used didn't contain fine lines or details to allow us to discern any differences between the photos taken by the X200 Ultra and the a6700. They should've simply compared JPEG quality in low light instead, since a dedicated camera struggles a lot with balancing out exposures in low light, and its primitive post-processing tends to be inefficient at removing noise as well.

jiyen235, 3 hours agonot really. All phones use computational photography and ar... moreI don't know what you mean by "artificially added" details because on a phone camera that would usually only apply when using digital zoom beyond their sensors' native resolution, but if you want to call all kinds of image processing that involves machine learning and AI "artificial" then be my guest - I guess a lot of photographers including myself are also "artificially adding" details to photos they've taken with their dedicated cameras because they use machine-learning based demosaicker (Such as Adobe Denoise and DxO DeepPRIME) to develop RAW images lol.

Anonymous, 3 hours agoEverything below was copy from Vivo X200 Pro review done by... moreThis is such a bizzare, borderline hilarious statement to make given the fact that the Ultra comes with a tighter lens (which will in turn increase the resolution per field of view), Snapdragon ISP + an additional image processing chip dedicated to photos, and most likely has all the sensor features including DSG-HDR unlocked (which was not even mentioned back in X200 Pro launch).

Simply put, if you compare X100 Ultra and X200 Ultra side by side and take photos of the same scene from the same place, the latter would have a more detailed-looking image because of its 35mm equivalent focal length. Likely less noisy too, because X200 Ultra captures more light per field of view. In the end, you can't beat physics.

Everything below was copy from Vivo X200 Pro review done by this website. The staff makes very clear results are inferior to previous generation. This is cause by inferior cmos.
But fanboys are still 100000% sure X200 Ultra with same downgrade can match X100 Ultra.

Obviously, the same people would be 😡🤬 if downgrade was done by apple, samsung, motorola or sony. Same way they felt about pixel 9a.
                                  Free pass has passport.

" In the past, we've gotten some spectacular results from vivos at 2x, so we approached the X200 Pro with high expectations, and it doesn't quite deliver. The photos are decent and will do in a pinch, but they don't have the crispiness and per-pixel detail of the X100 Pro or X100 Ultra at 2x - the X200 Pro's results are softer and more heavily processed."

" This relative softness applies to people shots as well, naturally. Again, they're not bad - it's just that we've gotten used to proper 2x excellence from vivos and now we've got this."

" In low-light, the X200 Pro's main camera captures great photos. As is somewhat typical of vivo's processing, you'd get vibrant, colorful images, with well developed shadows and preserved highlights. Detail is very good here, but it's a step down from the X100 Ultra and X100 Pro's level of definition and fine textures."

I don't know what to call the camera protrusion thing at the back. It's HUGE !
I also saw that they compared the thing to an A6700 during the presentation, are they serious ?

When will vivo release IQOO 13 pro ? and will be release with global version or not

So this enormous brick can only be imported?

Oof, just another phone designed to be functionally crippled outside China, enjoy garbage reception, zero warranty safety net, software hell packed with spyware and instant resale value death.

It's a premium-priced headache built on compromises, proving you value hype over actual usability and security. Along side, Vivo's horrible software update policies.

Buy phones meant for your market, unless you enjoy expensive paperweights.
