Again, I dare you to coherently dispute that there are greater risks associated with imported phones than locally available ones. No need for needless long talk. The point is that importing phones is a risky venture. If you disagree, counter it with sound logic. If "It RARELY happens" is your response, you'd need to back it up with numbers. But even after doing that, you'd have achieved nothing because no one here claimed that it OFTEN happens. Fact is that it does happen and that settles it.
Paranoid? You're the only one using that word here, maybe because you assume that just because someone made a factual assertion by saying that it's a gamble, then they must be paranoid. Crass logic every single time!

DarlingYext, 22 Apr 2025"As for this "elegancy BS" making phones fra... moreExactly. I'd much rather they make a thick phone with an aluminium back instead of making a thin phone with a glass back. Make the design durable and emulate what cases do to protect the phone (such as the ridges at the front to protect the display) and it'll be good enough to not need a case anymore. I'd buy such a phone in a heartbeat.

Cyberchum, 22 Apr 2025"Yeah, and that applies to EVERY PHONE out there, not ... moreNothing was hard to understand, it's just rarely happens. I've imported 3 phones already, 2 of which are vivo devices, one is nearly 2 years old, while the other one is almost 5 years old, neither of which have any issue, the older one is from Giztop, the other one is from Tradingshenzen. The third phone I imported is an India only Zero 30 that came from eBay, and I had to wait 2 days to get it unlocked because I bought a global version, which I thought meant europe for some reason, but even that's just a minor issue and is mostly my fault and the phone is still working, being daily used by my mom.
To put it simply, I'm not paranoid enough to even care about warranty, and all these imported devices had 1 year anyways, they are all out of warranty now, yet still work. I understand that you don't have a great experience with imported phones, and that's fair, if I was you I likely wouldn't import another phone ever again. Even so, we don't know where you imported your Mi 11 Lite 5G from, and that's a midrange phone, while thr X200 Ultra is a top tier flagship, plus the Mi 11 Lite series is famous for having issues, actually most Xiaomi midrange device are famous specifically for motherboard issues, like the Poco X3 series, so I don't think it's fair to compare imported midrange Xiaomi to imported midrange vivo.
"Well, it's DarlingYext after all, so no surprises. And Jiyen, his partner, is usually around to encourage him."
This is the argument you have to resort to, name calling like a true adult, because you can't understand and can't take that others have different needs and may not have a fear of their devices suddenly getting bricked just because it's an imported one.

Maybe someday other constructors will also make more repairable and upgradeable series of phones (like Framework laptops, please!, so I can upgrade parts of my phone just like my thin and light FW13).
As for this "elegancy BS" making phones fragile? Ever heard of thick, durable cases? Some even pack extra battery for even more juicyyy thickness you love!

Of course, it applies to every phone. Where did I say or imply otherwise? You seem to have a habit of skipping points and running around issues which in this case is that with imported ones, one risks getting stuck with a faulty phone or spending so much—sometimes, close to the amount they bought it for—to get it repaired. How is that so difficult to understand? Well, it's DarlingYext after all, so no surprises. And Jiyen, his partner, is usually around to encourage him.

"People ... morePlease state a brand and model that youu consider as ideal before I deep dive first. I'll target your arguments much better.
"Vivo and some other Chinese smartphone companies are not known for having the best update policies."
Yeah of course you're gonna focus on that meanwhile ignoring what others are doing to avoid you repairing your own device! What about the carbon fingerprint of that? How many apple devices has been replaced despite the fact that they could be easily repaired by 3rd parties if they allowed them & provided them the access to the original parts? Literally proven by the journalists lol! At least Chinese devices are cheap to repair, plenty of availability.
Which company is well known with easy repair apart from from the 'fair phone'? Apple has worst practices! Literally first fo introduce chips on modules that you cannot even swap battery from another device which is exactly same original model! They're doing all the tricks to make it literally unrepairable! They're coming up ridiculous design choices which makes it literally harder to repair. Single tiny module on a whole component brakes which pushes you to change entire board on their computers! Proven on YouTube!
Samsung followed up with the same idea as well, they always mocked Apple with what they do and followed up using the same strategy(removing headphone jack, removing charging adapter and other accessories from the retail boxes).
I've been following Louis Rossman and has been supporting for him being a 'right to repair' advocate. Is supporting more OS updates creates less carbon footprint? Think about before jumping into conclusions! :)
"then it is still imperfect..."
Your intelligence... Nothing is perfect that's there's perfectionism!
"R&D "struggling" to shrink components? That's literally their job description, innovation, not just supersizing."
Yeah. Then come here complain about cam module being smaller... What a thinking mechanism that contradicts with itself. When shrinking nothing goes according to the plan which leads to more effort. Meanwhile you could stop being a 'slim design desirist' and be 'okay' with a slight bump or thickness or a few additional grams to in hand. Otherwise go grab iPhone SE and be happy!
"Missing those old, innovative designs?
Those new massive avid black washing machines camera housing circle are hardly groundbreaking designs either, they just scream "camera" !"
Yes, I'm missing. That's my problem not yours!
" At flagship prices, it really shouldn't be."
Why do you think your opinion matters lol? I don't think mine matters especially as long as people like you exists.
Samsung used to do 3 different flagship devices one being a literally plastic thick brick! Yet, people were buying it! :) because those people exist too! They don't wanna worry about dropping their device, having a huge crack making an entire screen unusable. Have you ever worked in a phone repair shop?
Do you know how many displays are thrown away just because of their top glass cracked and the shop is lazy to remove top glass to make pressurized OCA installation? The display module works in most of the case! Even able to recognize fingerprint. All required is to remove and install a new top glass. In most of the cases the whole display module is thrown in the trash and a new one installed.
If they made it plastic, would it kill? Or slightly thicker device with some nice bumpers around would destroy your amazing mood?
It would. Wouldn't ya? :)
Because you want that super slim phone with 5mm thickness because your little cute pockets cannot fit bigger...
Your cute little tiny hands cannot even grab the whole device...
Your cute tiny little arms cannot carry anything more than 100g...
I'm all in for a thick, durable phone, packing all the flagship level hardware along with looong looong durability and a os support. Then I wouldn't worry about dropping or repairing it.
You people focus on bs while ignoring the essentials!

More importantly since I work at a smartphones and accessories, so GSM store, no I don't need to try out any thin and leight smartphones, I handle enough everyday to know that I prefer large and heavy phones. Plus I have used an iPhone SE 2020 for half a year and my biggest issue was the size with that phone, I'm sorry but I just don't like small phones.
I appreciate vivo making the X200 Pro mini, but even tho that one is made by vivo I still wouldn't want one, brand doesn't matter, I just don't want small phone, to me they aren't practical and they aren't comfortable.

Anyway, I don't care if people are happy lugging around yesterday's tech, enjoy the extra weight and thickness, it's cool to be "vintage." The future of smartphones is lighter and thinner, not thicker and heavier.

- Infinix Zero 30 ( newest one, second Zero 30 I bought )
- Infinix Zero Ultra ( oldest one, the reason why I bought the X Note )
- Honor Magic4 Pro ( great device, but I rather use one of the other 3 )

Honestly, I don't understand the hype for this elegancy bs. The perfectionism comes with a cost. For the sake of shrinking the thickness, r&d teams are struggling with using different components.
Would it kill me if the phone had a fully 10mm thickness? For me, not a problem at all! Fit there a bigger battery, better sensors, all the features that I'm lookin for and I'll forking buy it.
I miss the old Nokia legacy times. All the phones were thick had unique designs. Nowadays, we're trapped into this slim design target bs.
Why it has to be slim? So that it will easily crack the display amd front glass from pocket height? So that it will be really fragile?
People forget the carbon print of these devices. Instead of focusing on the longevity / functionality, they focus on design.
I'm totally fine for a thick device with a smaller screen that packs not even 6000 but 10000mag battery with flagship level cam hardwares.

But hey, maybe this new feature allowing you to grip your phone by the camera bump will be the next ergonomic trend?
It's like a real camera. Genius, Vivo.
