Pretty impressive camera setup which seems to be following a 'Maximin' strategy. Of course, it might not be able to take the best picture among its competitors at their respective most suitable focal length (ceteris paribus, the output of 1-inch sensors at 23mm should be better than 1/1.28" sensor at 35mm), but if you take pics at every possible focal length between 14mm to 200mm, x200 ultra would likely be the one to produce the least worst quality picture.
Putting it another way, at every focal length in the 14-200mm range, a minimum sensor area of 2 mm2 and a minimum megapixel count of 8MP is utilised. For comparison, Oppo Find X8 ultra doesn't manage that, even with 4 lenses.

This device is a photographer's dream come true.
Frankly, I don't really understand all those comments complaining about the "huge" camera bump. In the picture presented by this article, the camera island does not seem to protrude more than the camera islands of other cameraphone flagships.
Not sure though about the practical usability of the optional telescope-like add on-lens. It's good to have the option but after all the whole concept and success of cameraphones revolves around their portability, pocketability and convenience to be an "always in your pocket" - device.

"Some banking apps refusing to run on your "cleverly" imported, insecure device."
You wouldn't know that, but I do. Banking apps work, and so does the Google Wallet app.
"Gambling €1000+ blind on a massive phone like a Vivo X200 Ultra you couldn't try in Vivo store outside of China."
People will only import a device if they know what they are buying, nobody is going to "gamble", people not knowing what they would import simply won't import it.
I imported my vivo without trying it out, I knew it's going to be a huge device with great cameras, and that's exactly what I got, that was no gambling.

Literally no mention of 35mm in the main article when it is one of the USP of the device. That is just shoddy journalism.

Oh, my mistake! I seem to have wandered into CameraArena ... moreThere are many events (especially in Asia) where you can bring a phone but not a camera.
Vivo's target is this kind of situations.

"same strange artifacts on car headlights and street LED lights"
These light streaks are derived from the jagged rim on the opening of the periscope lens. Pretty much all periscope lenses on phones released in the last 2 years that don't use the ALoP (all-lenses-on-prism) design have this, presumably to reduce reflections and glares, so until there's a better way to deal with it, it's either that you take it or leave it.

The f-number of the periscope camera is 2.27 by the way. The effective lens diameter of the periscope camera should be roughly 0.99cm, only the Honor Magic7 RSR has such a large effective lens diameter.
