I guess it all depends on how you use your phone.
I use my phones without cases but with protective glass. I am leaning towards not using protective glass either. 4 years of caseless iphone 12 pro resulted in scratches on the sides but thats it, no scratches on the back or front, it had about 3 falls throughout those years. I now have iphone 16 pro, also caseless, one drop so far, broke the protective glass. Replaced it and so far so good. BUT i know a person who buys iphone almost every 2 years because they break it so often even while using the protective case.

I always go for the most minimal case, and also a screen protector

Glass is glass and glass breaks, if not then it scratches and you will end up losing a ton of precious resale value once you want to sell it.

Ceramic Shield - more Apple buzzwords. Not even made of ceramic.

The iPhone 16 that I own has rounded corners, unlike my older 13, and I found it much more comfortable and secure to hold without a case. And so I carried it without one, thinking it’s a shame to hide such a beautiful device with the teal colour behind a case.
But I accidentally dropped it twice, seemingly harmless falls, but surprisingly, I found a few deeper scratches on the bottom right edge of the screen.
My old iPhone 7 had survived much worse drops without a scratch. So I got a clear cover for the 16.

NeonHD, 25 Apr 2025I think it's generally commonsensical to put on a case... moreI don't take them off even at home. One random fall and now I have a dent on my hip.

Always use case and screen protector. I did it the second day after buying my phone. The first day got a small scratch on the screen. Fortunately screen protector was able to hide it. So protect your phone sooner. Don't listen to others.

screen protector is not just protection, it's a replaceable oleophobic coating

Oh, and I guess my point 🙂 is: if a phone is tough enough to use without a case and screen protector, it probably really is a bit of a game changer, just as was said in the article. Less hustle and worry 👍

Only read I use a case is because of it's thickness. I can't hold it properly thanks to my piano size hand. Otherwise I use with a case regardless of whether it's a brick or a paper.

So this is a way to increase profit through screen and back replacements?

I use my phones with cases and screen protectors (my phones are not expensive but still...) and miss them sorely if they are not included in retail package/preapplied and I have to hustle to get/apply them myself. My last but one was a Realme that had it all, now I have a Samsung - the phone is good but there was only a usb cable in the box that I couldn't use because I didn't have a usb-c charger. It's the old rant 🙂: sometimes little things matter.

How can they claim the durability by showing the drop on a wooden floor?
