MiUI is AOSP with Xiaomi UI
HyperOS is a whole new OS, not the AOSP.
The android stuff is just on top of the HyperOS

But maybe, one day, a manufacturer (like Fairphone) could try to implement a better Linux open-source phone OS using something like Waydroid or Anbox to allow APKs installation, directly into their phone.
China made os, is not the solution, unless it's fully open-source.

If Xiaomi + Vivo + Oppo + Oneplus do this, That's an over 1+ billion user base.
