Weekly poll: is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge the right flagship for you?

18 May 2025
The Edge tries to take things in a new direction - slimming down a flagship and making it lighter instead of packing on new features. But that comes at a cost.

A 10 years apple or android phone good only for calls and text is equally useless of Nokia 3310 which is 25 years old now.
Only difference is said 10 years old apple device will barely last one day on a charge while Nokia with new battery will still last 10 days without any issues.
Having 10 years old smartphone is good only for calls and texts all other apps wont be supported. And thats a fact. So in other words said feature phone is much better idea to have.

jiyen235, 19 May 2025Si/C by itself doesnt seem to provide better battery life. ... moreYea, that's what I've been saying too.
Other than that, it doesn't directly contribute to other things such as durability, longevity or such as it has not been fully tested as there's no such test records that I can find.

jiyen235, 19 May 2025Si/C by itself doesnt seem to provide better battery life. ... moreYep, I just put it for clarity bcs there are people who would tell me that "Li-Po can't be that thin".

I need a phone with the best Zoom available and I have it. I like such a fashion almost jewellery gadgets, but im not o.k. with too much compromises with functionality. These days a phone with so slow charging and without zoom camera is not in my target. But it is a masterpiece and I hope the market need a fashion phones like this.

Lot of people have tried ultra thin phones and failed, partly because the thinner you go the more annoying the camera bump gets to deal with. Really I'd like to see more brands go the other way where you have a thicker device with a flat back and larger battery, but maybe that would end up being too heavy.

Cpt.Power, 18 May 2025Friend said 2mp macro gives even low cost samsungs what do ... moreI see multiple people daily still using the iPhone XR, a phone that is literally 7 years old this year. I also personally know someone who was dailying an SE1 until late 2023, which had an 8 year old CPU at the time.

There's an endless list of things you can absolutely hate Apple for, but hardware longevity isn't one of them. I guarantee that A16 will still be perfectly fine in 2029 because their reputation is first class and well earned.

The only "flagship" thing about this phone is the price.
And even at that, you're actively paying Samsung extra money to downgrade an S25+ and ship it to you.
God, I miss when these companies weren't so creatively bankrupt.

If it was 699$, then why not, but at 1099, no way

They would've achieve 4900mAh at least on using Si-C, with even small dimensions. That'd be bring room to accomadate 3X telephoto

ProMaxUltraAreBricks, 19 May 2025My "shenanigans" is called Europe, where I live, ... moreNo, they simply have no financial interest in doing so. Chinese companies whose phones are really worth it still sell in India, China and China's neighboring countries, which globally is more than 1/2 of the world market. The second thing you miss is that these companies mainly produce only smartphones and the like, while Samsung probably produces everything from wafers to tractors and already has a network for supplying goods, parts, stores, etc. There is no crazy Chinese CEO who would invest tens of billions in logistics, infrastructure, personnel, etc. to make another dollar on top of it, when without all this they would make almost the same profit, only the work would be much less than it is now. And even if someone crazy enough is found, there is always a danger of something happening like with Huawei, when it started seriously messing with Apple and Samsung's profits. "Information and security leak", yes, yes... It hadn't leaked for so many years and suddenly it started leaking... 🤣 So, no one is going to invest billions for something that you don't know if it will be there tomorrow, because, let's say, Trump slept badly the night before.

S6 Edge was beautiful and a real quality device. Mine still works to this day. Battery of course took a hit after 10 years but it still works great.
S25 Edge is just a joke, it's supposed to be a small thin device, not a giant tablet sized paper thin phone that will break when someone holds it with two hands and costs as much as a regular gaming laptop! It's a joke, a phone for sheep.

And, if you want a genuinely good small flagship, Samsung's S base model is the only serious option. That's a hard fact, not an opinion.

I don't know, maybe, most Chinese companies are simply too lazy, incompetent or scared of patent lawsuits to release and support their "ultra" flagships globally.
I'd love to see more real competition in the compact flagship and "ultra" phone departments, outside China and Asia. Even though their current "small" 6.3" offerings are often just glorified mid-rangers, not true flagships.

If the battery was AT LEAST 3,800 Si/C, then it would be better. Sweetest spot is 4000 mah. Higher than that? Nuts.

But no, they added a battery which was worse than my Note10 2019 with a 3,500 cell. It doesn't last for 3 hrs in full-usage rn; imagine a 2,900 mah cell.

If they managed to keep the camera and same size battery while making the phone thinner and lighter, then there would be some innovation involved.
