I don't know why Sony could not able to reach in top smartphone market share. It's is out of my thought. I have been using many Sony Ericsson or Sony devices. But never felt to regret for any. My music system to smartphone all are Sony and it's going to above a decade i've been using Sony's product. I wish one day Sony will reached no 1 position.

If they want to become the third biggest they will have to concentrate on actually updating their older phones OS's. The sheer lack of customer care from them is terrible.

I think Sony should make their own processors, GPUs and RAMs just like Samsung. They should also work on Playstation handsets like Xperia play 2 etc.

Today I played for a while with the Note 2 and if the Note 3 hasn't been improved a lot in its stylus interaction, I'd say I wouldn't use it, so, no Note 3 for me, hello Z Ultra n.n It's yet to be decided, but the Z Ultra is ahead so far.

Btw, I played with the ZL too, it's really really nice!!!!!!! How destructive can be bad comments and subjective reviewers! Its display is much, much better than comments said, the poor viewing angles, what? Really barely noticeable!!! It's very very fast, it seemed faster than my Razr i o.O Iliked so much its UI. I think I'm ready to buy the Z Ultra! It'd be a steep and un-fun learning curve if I'd go with the Note 3,I think. I very much liked the ZL n.n

So, what Sony needs to succeed in this goal is: A much better MARKETING department!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                  Silly Sony.

Xperia Z1 is really a cool phone by Sony and the price is right for it. It's not that hard to be the top three manufacturer especially if Sony keeps producing phones like Xperia Z1. In recent years, Sony has been good at software updates. I just need some more features and then i am sold. Goodluck Sony.

Sony still have so many homeworks to do. The overheating issue and the blankspot syndrome are two of them. Any phone manufacturers can put any top hardware in their products but to optimize them altogether with the software, it's another story and Sony still don't have that capability. Not to forget the after sales service. We in Indonesia know how bad their after sales service quality.

Sony is extremely good at hardware integration, but lacks far behind in the software build from the likes of htc , samsung, apple and Nokia.
Also latge software updates on Xperia Phones isn't helping. It needs strong refurbishment in Mobile Software department to achieve what it aims to.

Sony just aimed to become third, they didn't even bash any phone company. Just a note, Sony is currently #57 most valuable company by Forbes, among the top innovative company as published in Yahoo this week for 2012. Samsung, Apple, coke, Google, Microsoft, Philips, GE, Pepsi, were also among some of the most valuable. No LG, no HTC, no China phone. Samsung is the 4th next to Apple, coke, and Google. Samsung has 4 times more asset value than Sony. Aiming number three is a challenge, but attainable in smartphone industry.
