AnonD-27765, 07 Oct 2013I've been a Lumia 920 user since December last year. Apart ... morewindows 8 phone, as it is, it is better than ios because it can be seen as a mass storage, you can copy and paste anything, you can see anything and is much more faster on internet than symbian. you are against progress if you like symbian. windows phone 8 o.s. is exactly at the half distance between the stupid blocked apple ios and powerful symbian. here is a group of geeks, but the world outside just call ,text and make bad photos. they want very simple os. and windows 8 is simple, elegant and blazing fast and cool. by the way, i am a htc one user now, but i own also a htc 8x as a 2nd phone for my job number. and windows 8 is great, so different and so fresh compared with twisted android

AnonD-94869, 07 Oct 2013do you own and use a windows 8 phone? of sure not. so shut ... moreI've been a Lumia 920 user since December last year. Apart from the free Nokia Mix Radio streaming, it's pretty standard in features and functions compared to Symbian and Android. Even the features it copied from Symbian like the Glance Screen is mediocre compared to Symbian's Sleeping Screen. Windows Phone is for luddites only, those who are technologically illiterate or resistant to technological progress will be satisfied with it but not an advanced user like me.

I own Nokia E5 since last 2 years but have not received any update for last one year (after June 2012). Nokia should at least update their all Symbian OS phones for the last time before discontinuing the OS completely.

GoMobile, 07 Oct 2013Er, dudes, symbian has been around for 13 years now, WP8 on... moreBut it's not 2003 anymore. Technology has advanced at a super fast rate since then. Going Lumia and making it your daily driver feels like going back in the past all over again. I have a Lumia 920 so I should know. I've tried to like it because of my devotion to Nokia but it just doesn't cut it for me.

AnonD-27765, 07 Oct 2013Enjoy taking pics with your Lumia 1020 til the battery runs... moredo you own and use a windows 8 phone? of sure not. so shut up. do not comment about mobiles phones and operating systems unless you used them at least one months. you are like all skoda octavia/renault megane drivers wich like to talk, troll and bash lamborghini, when they become drunk in a pub after one beer, but they are cluless indeed, they know Lamborghini only from magazines. AND YES, if you only take a Lumia 1020 only as a camcorder and a photo camera, you make a good investment because you do not need a compact soap camera and a spare movie camera. and you can talk and surf the internet at that camera.

Wait, whatever happened to supporting Symbian until 2016? Wasn't that the original promise?

tricky apple invented the marketing system of updates wich do nothing new indeed. they give the false sensation to their sheep customers that they are treat with care. in fact all the new updates are crap, at the beginning they work worse than previous update and you cannot downgrade. this trend of updates is followed by android too. why you need updates if your nokia with symbian works perfect ??. so do not become hysterical with bloody updates, it is a marketing gimmick in fact

Er, dudes, symbian has been around for 13 years now, WP8 only 3 years. What rich content did Symbian have back in 2003?

At least I was able to enjoy great support to my Nokia N8 for those past 3 years, and I still will be enjoying for some three more months. And after that, the N8 will continue working for 1 to 3 more years 'til te battery dies, so what is the problem here? (me and my family members have tee Nokia N8s and our different Lumias)

As I have said earlier, Nokia is digging its own grave by selling it to Microsoft and ending the support for Symbian o/s.

AnonD-177049, 07 Oct 2013Should have been done ages ago people still think symbian... moreI have an HTC One and a Lumia 920. Both phones are faster and more fluid than my 3-year old Nokia N8 but they haven't come close to the rich functionality of Symbian yet. It's hard to let go of Symbian especially of how great the camera, satnav, Bluetooth tethering, FM transmitter and other features are.

Stephen Elop killed Nokia. Nokia with Windows Phone will never be a success. Let put the things as are OK? Nokia is not new at making Windows Phone devices, the first one was made in 2011. Now we are in 2013, but they are still behind. Next year things won't change much, maybe they will sell a little bit more smart phones, but they will never succeed, unless some things will be changed, such as the ugly UI, and some other things. Their PureView technology won't help them much, I am sure. I hope Jolla will rise, and as I know, there will be another Finn company, which has a similar name as Nokia. Those phones will run on Android OS!

I just upgraded to the Nokia Lumia 1020, and absolutely love it. I take lots of pics and my old Nokia wasn't that great. However, it seemed like often, I missed pictures because I didn't have my camera along.
This phone is a bit bulkier (there's a bulge on the back for the newer camera), and I got a camera grip with it, which makes it even bigger. That's not a problem for me because I carry it in my purse. That might be a drawback for guys who carry a phone in their pocket because it doesn't have that slim design.
The phone comes with an app, Nokia Pro Cam, which lists the settings along the edges of the viewfinder. You can tap a setting and a menu comes up at the bottom to change the settings, almost like the dials on a regular camera. It also has a half press to focus and full press to shoot button, much like a traditional camera. There is a built in lens stabilizer that is works perfectly. I've taken several hundred pictures and not a bad one in the bunch, even in less than optimal lighting.
There's also a Creative Studio app for performing various trick edits. I haven't used it yet but will update when I have more experience with it.
The 2,000 mAh unit easily lasted me a day of regular use, talking on the phone, checking e-mail occasionally, sending and receiving text messages, stalking FB pics, and taking pictures. So far I'm really happy with this purchase. No more missing nice shots because I left my good camera at home.
Thanks for taking the time to read my review, and I hope you found it helpful in making a purchase decision.
