Chris Weber said "All of our
        guarantees and warranties and
        promises stand. And yes, that
        includes support for Symbian until
        2016, as we promised."

WP8 on phones tries to be too much like a lap top. Its a phone. It has its place I guess. Hate restrictions to tile lock screens and no phone pad key pad / alphanumeric choice for sending messages. Ill stay with HTC and return to Nokia if they could produce something meaningful as a choice at least from WP. Why not give droid a try, at lest include it in you line up and see what happens. A windows in blinded to everything else is short sighted and I hope you wont be. You fans have made thee case, given hours days and months in investment of time to give you for the most part contructive critique. I hope you take some of hat on board and come out flying not just in WP8

But i think the support for Symbian will only end somewhere in 2016.Pity the users of the innovative N9 and mind blowing Nokia Pureview 808.So much money for nothing.

GoMobile, 07 Oct 2013Er, dudes, symbian has been around for 13 years now, WP8 on... moredo you know what time MS startet their mobile OS. windows mobile started many years ago. today they call this version 8. they have been trying so long time and still far behind. and the next are on the way: tizen, sailfish, ubuntu and firefox. MS will never manage this. they have their monopoly windows desktop thinking. mobile business ist fast., it's different.

Since i was a kid i always hated Nokia and now I'm very happy from what is happing to Nokia starting in selling themselves to Microsoft and killing their own OSes.

I don't see why this "was to be expected". The Nokia 808 was sold new till roughly the end of 2012. That means Nokia expects people to use such an expensive phone for only one year!?

If Facebook decides to update their API in Feb 2014, all Symbian users (still millions) have to look at doggy forums for updates? I'm wondering whether Nokia can be forced to keep supporting Symbian. After all, the life expectancy of the Nokia 808 is such that updates can be demanded. Why does that only count for the OS?

Technology has advanced at a sup... moreWhat I'm trying to say is that WP8 is still fairly new, symbian has had a long time to mature and it's support base has grown a lot since 2003. WP8 needs to be given the same chance. Just for the record, I've been a Nokia user since the 3310 days. I had a Lumia 920 which was stolen not long ago. Currently I'm using a Nokia 6220 (Symbian) which I can't stand, I want another WP8 phone soon, I can't stand Symbian after having used WP8. Waiting for local release of the 1020. I've been keen to see what android can do, so I'm waiting for the Note 3 release as well.
