Dear samsung, I'm complaining about you for the first time now since I know that 4.3 andorid is running out for Galaxy Nexus devices for over a month now, but still no update available. Its not the point though, the point is that you shouldn't leak out 4.4 to another devices, while other google nexus devices wait update to 4.3. Thanks.

So kitkat 4.4 hasn't even been officially announced yet and samsung is working on it?(how else will knox come on that version, if they didn't have the source code they wouldn't be able to work these things out)

Samsung working on kitkat even before it's announcement! That's superb cheating going on between Google and Samsung! No wonder 4.3jb was ready for note3 in one month...

Planning such a big event and shooting commercials and making galaxy gear which needs 4.3's bluetooth low energy thing, I never thought about all this before!

Consumers and other manufacturers being cheated!

Even 4.0 is way better than the ios7 . May be apple need ios9 to achive most functionality of android’s 4.1 . Ios have too much room to upgrade while android almost touch the ceiling .

Anonym, 08 Oct 2013So you would rather have no updates at all, a phone which i... more"the overpriced crap the manufacturer knows it really is."
It's pretty ironic you use that phrase defending Apple in the iOS vs Android devices debate.

I agree with you. Manufacturers should support their top tiers of products over a reasonable period. And right now only Google (with the nexus line) and Apple give continued support (Nokia did as well before the MS fiasco).

However, there's much more to a product than the coninued support for OS updates. For example, I acquired a Note 2 on October last year. I really expect it to get at least 4.4 KitKat update support, if not higher. I'd be really disappointed if Samsung treated us costumers like that and simply decided not to go past JB 4.3. And my despite will surely go to Samsung, but not the Note 2 as a product.

The Note 2 with Android 4.3 will still be much more capable than the iPhone 5 with iOS 9 and even maybe the Nexus 4 with Android 5.0, because of the packed hardware.

Now let's talk about overpriced crap. The Nexus is not, because it's rather underpriced and has some awesome tech packed in and an appealing design. The iPhone 5 on the other hand holds a rather mediocre performance/cost ratio and looks pretty, but again it doesn't justify the pricetag.

Come the iPhone 6, the iPhone 5 will be left in the dark for the strongest features packed in the latest iOS iteration, even if it gets "some" support.

In other words, continued support is important, but definitely does not define "premium" and "non premium" per se.

What do you say about "reputable&... moreIn the support aspect I'd have to put Apple before those manufactureres that don't update their devices. But the stripping of features on an older device is a weak move. They do update the version number on their OS but willingly block new features from those who don't have the latest iThing. Crappy treatment.
