Samsung, I will advise you what people want and if you heed this advise, I'm sure just the 3 variants of a model would suffice:
First you need 3 variants of screen sizes 4.2", 5.2" & 6.2", Full HD.
Spec wise all have to be similar :
2.5Ghz CPU
4Gb RAM
16MP camera with OIS
Xenon flash
Waterproof n dustproof to IP68
Metallic housing with Gorilla 3 glass
Every model with similar specs just of different screen size eg : S5mini, S5 and S5 Note.
3 sizes to meet 3 groups of customers who all want the same highend spec. Then you can scrap your phablet genre and have a Note series of every S-Galaxy.

Not every guy likes a plus sized or fat girl. There are many who like petite 5' 2" girls with 25" waistline.

For its price, I would expect the S4 mini to retain the Snapdragon S600 1.9Ghz CPU. The phone became a dual core with lacklustre performance plus a screen of less than half of Full HD is a letdown.
The only plus point I like is the size so pocketable that I wish it was of Super AMOLED Full HD 400ppi above with that 4.3" screen and CPU of at least quad core 1.7Ghz above to justify the premium price.
Maybe Samsung should reorganise its marketing dept to match the current market situation. Also please make more waterproof phones. If the minis and flagships have waterproofing that'd add to their advantage in sales.

Is this really a surprise? Everyone predicted this the moment the specs of the mini were known. Only Samsung seemed excited on yet another of their "let's squeeze the Galaxy name on yet another useless model" strategy.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 offers much better specs than the S4 Mini hence why more and more people are buying the Galaxy S3.
Plus the Galaxy S3 has been updated to Jellybean 4.3 by Samsung already.

IMO the reason for such decline in sales is the S4 mini price in comparison to the S3.
That handset is priced in a totally wrong way , customers aren't that stupid to leave an S3 for an S4 mini so really it should be priced in a way less than that to sell more.

The mini should have the same the processor as the bigger version only the screen size should be reduced, not an underpowered chip & a premium price.

I hope one day Samsung and others will realize many users just want powerful phones in small sizes. Something we can use with just one hand, and pocket it without problems. Not a phablet!
It appears only Sony is starting to get it! Why not an iPhone 5s size?? It's perfect for me. Samsung is just blind always oversizing more and more their phones!
