Apple is one step ahead of all Windows Mobile sales in Q3

04 Dec, 2008
Well, it's official - Q3 2008 saw Apple's only current smartphone, the iPhone 3G, outsell the numerous devices based on the Windows Mobile platform not only in USA but on worldwide scale. That's some...

im glad that apple is in the game! its good for the competition.
And i also know that if your pathetic iphone could take good 3.2 or 5 mp pictures better than nokia, SE, you apple fans would be talking and be proud about that too. and also i dont want to carry another gadget (eg my canon) to just take rondom pics with my friends when im outside, in a restaurant, or whether im in a club chillin.
Whatever, iphone is good for fast operating and for its UI.
And for me, when i used iphone i wasnt wow ed at all. Cuz i know that im not that type of guy who is going with the flow.
i expect my phone does better things than just showing me how pretty it is.
i just want to check my mails, some youtubeing, IM ing on the go, killing some time while listening to music with good sound quality. i dont want to carry this damn laptop with me everywhere i go for just doing these simple things or carrying 3 or 4 different devices. Its 2008 damn it.
Anyway my point is, apple still will be forcing you to do whatever they want you to do. This is their policy. Damn apple just give me options, you are not the one who knows what is better for me. IM.
Nokia has its weaknesses too, slower UI (im not saying slow), worse software apps (some of them are not even compatible with your device, there is a lot room for development in this area) lets say than apple.
Just open a nokiastore or whatever and support your developers as apple does!!!

im a nokia and a pc kind of guy who has options and the opportunity to do whatever want and doing it good.
As i said before i dont find either of this two companies perfect there is a lot of room for improvement in this departments i just mentioned.
But until this changes, i will stuck with nokia type of companies.

And this goes to our american fella
"ignorance is bliss"
Come to europe and see what culture, history, civization is.
Same thing goes for your car companies too. you stuck with your weak 3.0 v6 engine, which produces the same amount of horsepower which can be produced with an 1.4 FSI.
LOL
And pls cut the crap and your shallow approach for the english language. who gives a shit about that. they just dont have to learn this damn lang. But even with their "not so big amount of english knowledge" they beat hell out of you americans who cannot show their country on the world map. LOL

[deleted post]I'd like to refer you to table 2 in the link I posted.

    Table 2
Worldwide: Preliminary Smartphone Sales to End Users by Operating System, 3Q08 (Thousands of Units)

    1. Symbian 18,179

    2. Research In Motion 5,800

    3. Mac OS X 4,720

    4. Microsoft Windows Mobile 4,053

Who's the guy who say's the iPhone doesn't have hardware graphics acceleration?

Why don't you find out the facts before you make such a stupid statement.

    powerVR MBX

"With KYRO 3 (2D/3D AIB) products shelved due to STMicro closing its graphics division, PowerVR concentrated on the portable market with its next design, the low power PowerVR MBX. It, and its SGX successors, have become the de facto standards for mobile 3D, having been licensed by seven of the top ten semiconductor manufacturers including Intel, Texas Instruments, Samsung, NEC, NXP Semiconductors, Freescale, Renesas, and Sunplus, and in use in many high-end cellphones including the Apple iPhone, Nokia N95, Sony Ericsson P1, and Motorola RIZR Z8."

MS should work more closely wif handset makers to produce a more stable platform for mobile devices.

the results are widely expected, many user of WinMo devices find it unstable and lack of user-friendliness. The interface is also boring wif their trademark "Start" button at the cornor of the screen similiar to the PC. Resetting the device once awhile is a norm as the OS hangs easily.

Its called xGPS google it and u will find the cydia source it will have an update in about 8 hrs with directions and should have voice directions b4 the endnof the year. If u download the maps manager from there you can download maps and use them offline, thus not needing an internet connection to use the gps

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2008iphones compare to PSP.. how can u compare phone with NO d... moreActually it is because of the App store model, the way that Apple makes it easy for developers to get their product's to the consumer and get paid for it which is where the iPhone can take on the PSP and Nintendo.

It's based on the distribution model, the App store is to mobile phone games what Valve and Steam are to PC games.

Now I am not the only one making such statements they are as reported by journalists from a variety of sources as can be seen from the links I posted.

Sega stated that Monkeyball on the iPhone is their most successful game on ANY platform EVER, compare it to the Symbian(N-Gage) equivalent "Bounce".

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VBHu-_xfUI

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFVBV5UYh6c

Here is another example of the iPhone's game quality compared to other platforms.

              Asphalt 4 iPhone

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogcOEvDfGdM

              Asphalt 4 Symbian

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2y-7cQ5Yss

              Asphalt 4 Windows Mobile

              http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2y-7cQ5Yss

So maybe if you paid attention to what I was actually saying rather than wandering down the blind alley of "supposed" technical superiority, which seems to be the same mistake that everyone who jumps on the "I hate iPhone, so you should hate it too" bandwagon, you would understand why it is doing so well.

Id been waiting around for a new smartphone and was really against the iphone (i was waiting for touch hd) but wheb a friend of mine offered it to me for nothing i thought i gotta take it and surprisingly im really happy with it. Ive always hated macs since they came out and thought the iphone was crap until i actually got it
I did a bit of research and with a bit of help from jailbreaking i now have video recording( fairly good quality too), mms, a torrent downloader, i can install heaps of programs from cydia, download files from safari, my own p2p client so i can listen to music and watch videos straight away, ive even got some proper gps without the need of an internet connection and with navigation, plus over $200 worth of appstore apps for free and much more (cant think of anything else). With a bit of research you can do alot with this phone and i couldnt ask for much more and yes i know you may be saying i already have this on my wm device but ive also got the ui so yeah
And please dont say im a fan boy cos im far from it. I owned a mac once and literally threw it in the bin 1 week later
Im looking forward to wm 6.5 and 7 but im happy with the iphone so far

If there was a award for "Player of the year", this should go to HTC.
I know we're talking about platform only but I find without HTC Winmo would be year's behind Apple already.

                        iphones compare to PSP..
how can u compare phone with NO dedicated graphics accelator with gaming console?

ah...the phone which only have 4 directional buttons VS console which had 6 hardware buttons...
iphones wins! why? because iphone users only play PACMAN!! haha!! no need dedicated gaming keys..

                        10.000 apps?
why? because iphone users prove it.. it is because you think your iphone apps are NOT enough..
and iphone fanboys are willing to pay anything for 3rd party software is..
and thats why they are jobs sheeps....

                        heres little information..
3G...is already available 4 years ago and still why jobs dont release the 3G version first?
yea...its because you apple fanboys will ultimately buy that piece of jank and then he release the 3G model and you'll replace your iphones...again..yes..its TWICE they have to pay for a full fledged phone which should be release at first time instead of phone which still uses GPRS...LOL

Anonymous, 05 Dec 2008There are 2 3D Need for Speed games already out for symbian... moreYes, a joke...

As the article suggests it's Windows which is the real loser.

Do you think he's laughing now?

Symbian is declining, for the first time ever they dropped below 50% market share in the smartphone market.

                          Source:-

                          http://www.gartner.com/it/page.jsp?id=827912

There are about 20,000 applications available for Symbian, in 5 months 10,000 applications have become available for iPhone.

You can continue ignoring the facts and live in your fantasy world, I prefer to provide links that back my arguments up.

Right it comes to my attention that many people are spoiled by the cliche that is "Apple Rules".

Apple will sell more because they have released a phone based on the idea it's an iPod. People think these are amazingly genius for some reason.

Obviously Apple will sell more game based applications the the Nokia's N-gage facility possibly due to the overall purpose of the phone. The N-series is predominatly a smart phone collection.

I would really love to know. Who searches for the cinema, buys tickets and the uses the sat nav to get there like on the iPhone adverts.

N95 sold more than iPhone + iPhone 3G combined, because it had sustainable sales. (:
