Anonymous, 12 Dec 2008Well, birds of the same feathers flock together as they say... moreMy friends and I make as much money as you and maybe more. It doesn’t mean that they have to get data plans. We have access to the internet at work and at home. There is no reason for them to subscribe to a data plan to serve the web and watch youtube on their cellphone. They think it’s a waste of money. I have a data plan. I don’t believe that all jgIF and your friends have data plans. You both are professional liars. Too bad jgIF got his posts deleted. 1diot.

Since you are jgIF friend, I guess you agree with jgIF that “all” yours and his friends have data plans. Both of you are wealthy liars. For sure at least one of your friends doesn’t have a data plan. I wonder why your friends post got deleted.

HTC, 12 Dec 2008Wow! You are the first and the only person that said all yo... moreWell, birds of the same feathers flock together as they say. But no, not all of us have iphones. But we all have smartphones and have signed up for data plans. It's just convenient that way, and you can really make the most of your smartphone if you have a data plan. Unlike your assumption that we're merely kids, we're actually professionals with high incomes. That is the reason why we can afford smartphones and data plans =) I'm happy with my white iphone, but you can get a skin for it in pink, so yes, you don't have to wish because it is available =)

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2008I know what a data plan is, but the point is that YOU NEED ... moreLOL, As I have said any phone would work w/out a data plan. As for it's necessity, well if you think about it, people survived without cell phones in the early 90's. So do you really need a cellphone? It is not a matter of necessity. It's a matter of choice and convenience. There's an affordable Kia, but why do people buy a BMW? Do you need a BMW? No you don't, but it is nice to have one. Do I need a data plan? No I don't, but it is nice and convenient to have one. You still don't get it?
Go to Gizmodo on their web browsers comparison where they said that opera is not as smooth and fast as safari, and that safari is indeed better. Not even that. Just go to YouTube and see performance comparisons between the iphone vs phones w/ opera browsers. See who wins.
You are the one not getting the general idea. You keep on insisting on features that may not really matter just to pull the iphone down and pretend to be the innocent bystander who just wants to get some info about the iphone. PUHLEASSSSEEEEE.
Why does the iphone not support BT headset? The same answer to the question, why does other smartphones don't have the standard 3.5mm headphone jack? or the question, why does other smartphone don't have 16gb internal memory? or the other question, why does other touchscreen smartphones don't have multi-touch? Or the other question, why does other smartphone use resistive instead of the better responsive capacitive touch? The answer is, BY CHOICE.
A 5 or 8mp cameraphone rendering not so good quality photos is not that high-tech either =) I will only support the megapixel hype on cameraphones if it does render digital camera quality of photos and videos, BUT IT DOESN'T. So yes, I am happy with my iphone's 2mp camera. And to be honest, pictures taken from my iphone looks much better on its 3.5 HVGA display, than pictures taken from the N95 on its 2.8 QVGA display =) And why the high megapixels on cameraphones? Are you going to blow up those photos taken by your camera phone to poster sizes that you need such high megapixels? LOL.
I am not dodging anything at all. Just stating some practical truths.
I am telling the truth. Data plans are not popular in the Philippines because people there would not spend that much money on data plans. People their are on a tight budget to even save enough money to buy their Smart and Globe loads for SMS, how much more video calls, lol. Are you telling me that video calling is also the main thing in the Philippines, just to protect your pride? LOL. The iphone does not support video calling, and so what? I don't use it, and a lot of people who has that secondary camera do not use it either. So why make a big deal out of it? I live in LA, and have not seen a single person use video calling, so please stop over promoting that feature.
Well the millions of peole who bought the iphone are obviously ok with its audio quality. Why? Do you also use your phone as your sound system? LOL. Now, why do other touchscreen smartphones use plastic display that scratches easily, unlike the iphone that has a scratchproof glass display? And why does other smartphone have very poor legibility under sunlight while the iphone has excellent legibility under sunlight? Did they just concentrate on audio quality and forgot that build quality and being able to read what's on the display under sunlight are very important as well? =)
Like people would actually believe your personal stories of who gave you your iphone, lol. Yes, I'm Oprah's best friend and Bill Gates is my neighbor. I never said that my life is the iphone, but it seems like you have dedicated your life on pulling down the iphone even when it already has succeeded. The US has the technology, it is just being suppressed due to regulations and considerations. No one is forcing you to support any American products.

So you and your friends are just boys and girls that cried to your m 0 m for iphones and that is how you all ended up with data plans. I should tell my little niece to do that so she can also get an iphone. Don’t you wish the new iphone comes in pink?

Seeing as how these processors are based on American technology developed by Americans in the USA, it seems rather strange for Nokia to use them.

I know what a data plan is, but the point is that YOU NEED to get that in just to make the iphone work. But do you really need it? -> something you missed.
Mobile devices, smart phones, desktop PCs, even MACS, the general consensus agree that opera is the best browser out there. My G4ti uses firefox since safari does suck. The only half decent pragram for the MAC is Final Cut Pro, the only use of that sorry computer of mine.
I haven't missed any point, but you obviously do miss a lot of points =) -> but you did and did not even get the general idea.
BT headsets, wired headset, is yeah... depends on the preference of users and I use both. But the thing is, the iphone is supposed to be a "smart" nad "high tech" phone but why can't it support it?
2mp does not really shout high-tech does it? A half decent phone can still capture decent audio/video. Motorola phones with 1.3mpx cameras can shoot video/pics better than the iphone. Why is that? The SLVRL7i came out a long long time ago.
"Check out YouTube and see those videos posted on there that were taken from cell phones and see how annoying their picture and audio quality are. Nah, that will not work for me." - Another point missed and dodging the youtube app when surfing using safari.
I go to the Philippines twice a year. People there have high tech cell phones as well. Guess what? All those features are wasted on SMS. I don't even know why they are buying those expensive Nseries phones when all they do is SMS. None of them uses video calling. I don't see anyone here in the US as well using video calling on their cell phones. Video quality on video calls sucks. -> Guess what? I am from the Philippines and do not underestimate phone users here. SMS is the fastest and most convenient way of contacting people (aside from calling). I guess you were not able to see someone here using the video calls, the video is just okay and the audio quality is excellent. You do need to get outside every once in a while. And you are still dodging the 3g HSDPA/ wifi redundancy of the iphone since it cannot support the video call. Been to Ontario, London, Tokyo and California, people uses video calls there since they have a better phone than the iphone.
Another point, for a smart phone, why does the audio quality of the iphone that bad? Did they just concentrate on emails that they forgot what a phone should really do?
I had an iphone, bought it in HK when I went on vacation. I sold it to my cousin and sticked with my normal phone instead. There is more to life than the iphone. Admit it, you are a just a victim of an elaborate marketing strategy (since it is the only decent phone that came from USA after the Moto RAZR and is still catching up on the world market, if you want, I can also history lesson on how the USA fell way behind the world when it comes to mobile technology [et al South Africa already developed a working mobile network system ahead of USA]). I just wish that you can make a half decent arguement, because the iphone still cannot do that since it is just a novelty. The iphone is just a huge novelty, while the rest of the world uses practicality.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2008I don't really understand that data plan, the iphone needs ... moreLet me educate you on what a data plan is. The iphone, just like ANY OTHER regular cell phones, does not need a data plan to work as a regular cell phone. But the iphone is a smartphone. Just like ANY OTHER smartphones, the iphone has applications that need to access the internet for it to work. That is why you need to get a data plan to make the most of all the applications that the iphone offers.
Safari beat Opera in an one on one comparison in YouTube between HTC Diamond and even HTC HD was beaten by the iphone's Safari. So I don't care whoever claims Opera as the king of web browsing. It's the performance that matters to users.
YouTube is YouTube. Whether you pull it from your tabs or from your desktop application. All I know is that YouTube videos look much better when viewed on the iphone than any other phones. It's also more convenient to open because you don't need to open your browser. It's right there on the very first screen. All you need to do is just tap it once and it will be opened. How is that inconvenient?
I haven't missed any point, but you obviously do miss a lot of points =)
Regardless, BT headsets will never render better quality audio compared to wired headsets. BT headsets would always get signal interference. Plus, you need to recharge them. Wired headsets do not need batteries. Now, I am not saying that BT headsets are useless because they aren't. It is just a matter of preference. So you cannot say that the iphone is an inferior device just because it uses wired headsets. Bose makes excellent wired headsets which are way from from being inferior and would kick any BT headsets' ass. As for BT sharing and MMS. No one is stopping you from using those features, but don't condemn people who uses email instead.
I don't even care if the iphone didn't come with a camera. Because like I said, there are people who are very picky when it comes to picture and video quality. Check out YouTube and see those videos posted on there that were taken from cell phones and see how annoying their picture and audio quality are. Nah, that will not work for me.
There is more to life is more to life than video calling, BT and MMS. If you do not like the iphone, then go get a different phone and shut up =)

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2008I don't really understand that data plan, the iphone needs ... moreThese are strange comments in a thread regarding SMARTPHONES, one would tend to think that not having data would hamper the major functions of handsets classed as smartphones.
MMS uses data, if GPRS is disabled on your phone account it won't work.
Why don't you go air your concerns in an appropriate area, the Nokia 1650 section perhaps.

I don't really understand that data plan, the iphone needs a data plan or it will not really function unlike 98% of the phones in the market. That is why you need a data plan, w/o it, the iphone is just a pretty paper weight.
All I see are excuses.
Safari is superior? Since when? Last time I checked Opera is still the king of mobile browsers. Youtube app? That is very inconvenient since there is a thing called "tabs" on most mobile browsers in where you dont need to really on another application just to do one thing and another.
Still you missed the point with 3g HSDPA and MMS.
BT headsets in the market already supports HD stereo or joint stereo, mine does. You are still dodging and making excuses with regards to BT sharing.
MMS is not that important but still a good function.
2 MP is still just 2 MP. You cannot take good pictures as good as DSLR but still 2 MP? Entry level phones now often comes with 2mp.
A lot of countries in Asia and Europe have great 3g networks, and video calling is used not frenquently but is still used more than you think.
There is more to life is more to life than emails.
There is more to life than just the iphone. So get one.

Nok... moreLOL, so now you don't care if you have to download an application to your phone, but you criticize the iphone for having to unlock it to get some other hidden features, lol. See how biased you are. That sucks that you have to hunt for other web browsers because you bought a phone with an inferior web browser, lol.
I never said that you said that MMS is important for you, I guess you do not understand english very well =) I don't care if video calling is important to you. I don't see people using it. And if you use it, it has very poor quality. There you go again, bashing the Americans, lol. Just shows what kind of person you are =) Is Lucent the only communication technology in the US that you would judge American technology off of their technology? LOL.
We pay $30 bucks for data plan pretty much for internet. That is what we mostly use the iphone for. We do not go on the top of the mountain every day. I don't even recall ever going to the mountains. Since you used that as an example. Can you use video calling when you do not have 3g signal on the top of the mountain? LOL. Neither can you, so why do you pay for a data plan? As for wifi, it is not available everywhere. Like when you're driving and need to check really quick for your emails, or check the movie listings, or directions. The $30 that we pay is inlimited internet access =) We don't have to worry about exceeding 1gb of 3g traffic =) Plus we also get wifi =) Who cares if your HTC has a bigger sensor. The results wouldn't still be as good as my canon camera =) As for windows vs Mac. Well yes, there are still more windows users, but Mac is growing. Mac is not for the masses, compared to windows that is more affordable.
If window users switch to Mac users, then obviously they also know how to operate a windows computer, right? You said that Mac users do not know how to use windows. So there you go. Also, did you ask every mac user on this planet if they don't know how to use windows? LOL. You are unreasonably illogical =) (what I really meant is that you're stupid, lol)
