Hello, can someone please tell me if the iPhone 3G really can receive photos from another cellphone by using BT not email. Thanks. Can we all just get along.

A smartphone without data is like a car without petrol.
The reason iPhones ARE bundled with plans containing data plans is so people can use them.
Blackberries use BES and BIS you pay for those too.
Winmo and Symbian devices also use data if you want too take advantage of their full functionality.

A lot of people don’t want to spend $30/month on a data plan that they rarely use. So emailing does not work. Transfer files between phones using bluetooth is the basic feature that my iPhone 3G can’t do.

[deleted post]Are you from the 60s. My bluetooth headset can change tracks, control volume, pause, and answer calls without getting the phone out of my backpack. While riding your bike, why would you want to use your iphone to look for a song and making calls? You might get into an accident and scratch your iphone.

For example, I have a picture of your M*m and I want to share it with my friends so that he can share it with his other friends, it would be easier to use bluetooth.

And it kicks the cr*p out of you`re Iphone even if it is still in Beta form. Yes, beta form and it kicks a** ;) .
Safe apps? You can have the same "safe" apps on any of those phones if you DO NOT get them from warez sites. But then again, my Touch HD is so packed with features that i don`t even need more than a couple of aditional apps. And i don`t have to jailbrake it to use videorecording:))). And i have real GPS software, IGO, not G.Maps, lol.
And when you have you`re phone loaded with tons of cracked/warez useless apps, of course you`re os will run like s*it.
But i`m not a retard to download 3000 cracked apps and then wonder why the hell does the os run like hell and everything is slow.

Apps that tell you how much calories did you burn? Lulz. Apps like these have been around for years, and all of them are totally useless. A phone can`t tell if you are running on the city sidewalk or on a rough mountain pass...

So how can you say "anytime"? There are also times of incompatibility of handsets with BT. Sending a file via email is much easier and faster. You just tap on the picture and choose the option to email, and you're done. If transferring files via BT is what you and your friends do every time you guys hang out, then I do not understand why you even bought the iphone. But don't envy your friends. You said you cannot email them files because they do not have data plans right? That means only you have the ability to email anyone, anytime you want, while your friends have to go home just to send an email because their phone can only BT =) You can also surf the web, watch YouTube videos, download applications, check the weather, the news, the stocks, get push email, etc. on your iphone, while your friends just have to settle with BT transfer and customizing their ringtones all day. They will be more jealous of you and what your iphone can do =) So don't stress yourself =) Your iphone does more fun things than your friends' phones =)

Ema... moremost of the phones has data and i don't have to go anywhere or even download anything to use the "basic" features. however, iphone is good for who want an ipod where you can take poor pictures and visit some websites when you have nothing to do.

I'm using a bluetooth headset for my Motorolla phone. For me, it's very inconvenience to use a wired headset on my iPhone. When I'm resting I don't have to remove the earpiece/phone when putting my backpack down.

I love my iPhone when I zoom in on a nice photo with my 2 fingers. About file transfer, I like to send/receive photos/videos using bluetooth with my friends anytime since they don't have a data plan. Why send email and go through all that work just to get 1 nice photo/video. My friends have different phones and they were able use bluetooth to send/receive files from each other and my iPhone can't. Is there a way? Most phone you can just pick any music file and use it as a ringtone. But iPhone I have to use a computer to create a ringtone.

Pls use the web to search for instructions. Like my tech guy always say, before u ask us, ask google first. ^_^

Are you sure you have an iphone? =) There are hundreds of cool ringtones for free from itunes, and there's actually a way of converting songs in your library to ringtones, but ringtones are not really my thing because there are other more fun features on the iphone than ringtone customization =) But yes, SMS and copy/paste can be helpful every once in a while, but it's still not a dealbreaker for most of us considering the other great features the iphone has. I used to have a wireless headset, and I prefer the wired headphones. You don't get signal interferance with the wired ones. One of the main reasons why I bought the iphone is so I can enjoy touching its screen, now why would I use voice dialing? =) But then if you need to, there is a voice dialing application from the app store that you can load onto your iphone.

I had almost every brand of cellphone and i use them as toys, i must say the iphone is the best toy i had, and WM6 is ok but not that easy friendly entertaining great that must people would use, and the numbers are just a reflection of this, plus wm6 top phones are more expensive.

I might make some more ringtones from MP3's it's very easy check google, they show up under Custom in my sound settings.
I tried an Omnia I put two fingers on the screen and tried to zoom a photo, why doesn't it work, why do I have to press so hard, the screen feels cheap why is it made of plastic?
