Bill Gates once said 640K of memory was more than anyone needed. Future is 4k display on mobile, tablets and laptops and 8 k on pc monitors and tvs.. Why you people dont look at the future of image tech. Human eye has a resolution of 400 MP ULTRA HD is only 33 MP.. FULL HD is only 2 MP.

Even canon said that 12 MP is enought.. or apple said that retina 330 PPi is enought.. and human eyes cannot view more than that. ALL THESE ARE MARKETINK LIES.. but you people are so stupid to see that... HUman eye resolution is over 300 MP.. so is huge space for improvement in display resolutions.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2013Let me clarify: Sure you can see pixels on a 5inch full HD ... moreThere are no general absolute limit on the PPI it depends on the viewing distance. The limit of what makes sense is about 1/6000 of the viewing distance for people with good eyesight (and about 1/3000 for old people like my self), so 500dpi is suitable for 12" (and 6" for old people). So for young people this device make good sense.
(The 300dpi myth is due to 20 inch being the usual reading distance of a sheet of paper)

It wasn't long ago when we used to say that you need a screen larger than 32" to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p... now we almost have 4K on a 5" screen.
I hoped they stop at 1080p in smartphones, but its hopeless.

for those who say we dont need higher technology because its just same, think again, remember when the first personal computer was invented in california, IBM aint accept their product, saying its just crappy "why do normal people need computer" and considering the "Mouse" as a part of the product is just funny, but when steve jobs bought it and it become a $600 billion company, how's that?

humans adjust to technology, we need to, though facts show that a human eye can only just see no higher than 300ppi it could change anytime or as time goes by

japanese people knew what the're doing, the're just smarter and innovative than any of us ( though they dont really know how to market products ) japanese technology is just amazing, some are funny yet innovative

and if you dont want that "higher useless specs" go buy a Samsung, no innovation at all, they just put cool software that you will rarely use, in a plastic cover, that is highly marketed but low production cost

What a waste of performance, seriously. The GPU basically has to render pixels that you don't even see. The result is a faster draining battery, laggier UI, less FPS in games. It's solely marketing, people see a higher number and they think that it's better but infact the same phone would perform better with a lower resolution (lower ppi) while the image looks the same to the human eye.

You can try that out yourself by taking a screenshot of your desktop computer's screen while you opened a website with text on it and then view it on your phone if it has a full hd screen. you won't be able to read the text....

Having looked at that image, the thought of a bezel-less phone scares me - would be like having a random rectangle mirror in your pocket...
