Anonymous, 27 Nov 2013might be a good phone but i dont think there is a place on ... moreIf it, or any other OS, can use Android apps and games then many would like to be free from the NSA-"partners" Microsoft and Apple and Google!

Anonymous, 27 Nov 2013might be a good phone but i dont think there is a place on ... moreOn the contrary. It is quite the best timing for this system, and is welcomed. Just cause, there are Symbian users that hate wp, crapdrodid and ios, cause that's what it is: an ios! And also, there are others sick and tired of the same os's...;).

Ex-employers of Nokia wouldn't even touch the name Nokia do to something like this. So I believe this was made by Nokia. But if the deal is good comparing to other phones why not.

I don't think it is too expensive for this hardware level considering the i2c port.
This might not sell well but is the most innovative phone since the iphone IMHO. An evolutionary step. Consider how it allows for so much customization and at a lower price compared to wireless options.
                I really hope it succeeds.

                    La Jolla, California...

I think this is the sort of OS you have to try out in person to really appreciate it. The UI looks quite minimal to me, which isn't bad necessarily, of course.

Some pros and cons to consider

+ Sailfish OS doesn't require as much from the processor. Already it's base (Nokia's Meego) was originally designed for pure mobile use, and for much slower phones like N9. Users, among 450 first ones, have experienced the phone and its browser to be quick.
+ HERE Maps (Nokia trademark) is an excellent choise
+ According to Jolla's CEO, Jolla is also planning to let individual users to download Sailfish operating system into their Android-devices.
+ Sailfish OS seems to carry on the OpenSource ideology in general. This is a huge ideological difference compared to all bigger competitors.

                        - HERE Maps in Jolla doesn't support navigation - yet. (Promised to support it later)
                        - Jolla's first phone doesn't support DLNA
                        - Screen rotation works only for the camera, so far
                        - Talking time (in 3G network) is only 5,5h. Battery might be undersized

+/- (depending on how you think): Preinstalled Yandex app store, among with Jolla app store (harbour)

In my opinion, already the idea of giving Sailfish OS for free for all the Android users is something worth supporting. I'd buy the phone for that only - but I'm an OpenSource fan.

Iphone's hardware specs are equivalent to law end smart phones or atleast equivalent to midrangers, still people are crazy enough to dump their money for a dumb phone. So whats wrong with jolla?

this is what iphone killer looks like although still very early in development. This should be an eyeopener for iphone fans out there just how overpriced iphone is considering the number of iphones manufactured. Dont get me wrong i am no apple hater, i own 2 macs and an ipod and consider them well worth their price but when i think of buying iphone i m like ...really this is all m paying 60k(INR) for. For carrier contract bound it may be cheap but unlocked handsets outside US it is just not worth it in my opinion

people, just don't mock the specs. sailfish os runs smoothly even on 3-years old hardware (Nokia N900). have you noticed the specs of Apple products, still they want 1000$ for them?
