bweber85, 04 Dec 2013I don't understand this battle for screen resolution. The d... morevery well said...i agree with your point... i dont see many ppl even using the screen with full brightness due to battery saving through out the day...

        Screen screen!!
We need to see some mad innovation whats with ppi and processor
My xperia z1 with d speed I havent seen an app or game that needs that speed
LG designed flexible screen..sammy did the same
The idea of a flexible screen is rubbish while u cant fold the phone
With all due respect am a sony fan
Until sony catches up Iphone roles
With old spec its still extremely fast
Not to mention with small screen n no need for ppi

I'm not sure why it's suddenly popular to assume that more pixels automatically equals lower battery life, when the battery life equation is much more complex, and battery life in smartphones has been steadily on the rise over the years. Consider this:

The Nexus S had an 800x480 screen (0.3 million pixels) compared to the 1920x1080 screen of the Nexus 5 (2 million pixels). That's around 6.5 times the pixels. Now the Nexus S had a smallish battery rated at 5.33 Wh. The Nexus 5 has a larger battery at 8.74 Wh (60% bigger). If battery performance hinged on number of pixels, the Nexus 5 would be at a serious disadvantage to the Nexus S -- it is moving around 6.5 times the pixels. However, this is simply not the case, as the Nexus 5 has SIGNIFICANTLY better battery life than the Nexus S. The same is true if you were to equalize the size of the Nexus S battery to that of the Nexus 5 -- the 5 would still perform better, despite pushing 6.5 times the pixels.

My point is this: These companies are in the business of making devices that satisfy consumer requirements. Power consumption is a serious factor in achieving this. This is why, despite the GHz CPUs and the 2.5K screens, we still get great battery life, and that the number is steadily trending upwards. No doubt, Samsung is very aware of this with it's AMOLED mobile displays, that have been becoming more power efficient generation-over-generation, and with far better colour reproduction.

More pixels doesn't necessarily mean more battery drain -- there are many other factors to consider that also contribute to this.

I will skip next generation most probably.

I will consider Note V if it is released.
(yes jumping from S-series to Note)

I don't understand this battle for screen resolution. The density is higher than the human eye can process already and yet they keep climbing higher and higher. If they want to work on screens then increase the visibility in sunlight, not the pixel density.

laggdroids, 04 Dec 2013I am eagerly waiting for Samsung Galaxy S X, NOTE IX,GRAND ... moreOf course Samsung has dozens of models for dozens of different people but do you need to buy them all ? You don't seem to understand even the meaning of the word diversity let alone to understand that people are different and that they have different needs and purposes in life. Many of the people in the world today seem to have only one purpose in life - to buy an aluminum mobile phone then to die. LMFAO

I wonder how it will handle top games at that resolution... And in other hand companies like Gameloft and EA will try their best to optimise games poorly on android.

2k hardly even makes sense for a huge Note screen. Stop developing whats easy for you and start developing whats needed and never good enough! my tip: battery & gpu

I really wonder how these senseless dumb companies grew so big..... They can't launch a mobile which gets fully charged in 30 minutes or which lasts full day without recharging....and look what they are launching.... A smartphone with 560 ppi which doesn't has some additional benefits than a mobile with 441 ppi... Perhaps it will consume much much more battery... Sick of them... :-\

Now that Apple proved the world that people don't wanna buy real technology and innovations instead what people really want and Apple fanboys in particularly is to chew Aluminum on a daily basis and other metals alike like they chew bubble gum, then you got happy customers and sheeps waiting in line for your phones. Give them aluminum and other metals to chew and you got happy customers for life. ROTFL

t-rex 2.7 onscreen score will be less if it sport 1440p instead of 1080p...that should be worse than note 3....
