After the N79 Active here comes the N79 Eco. What’s next?

16 Jan, 2009
The nice looking Petrol Black version of Nokia N79 appeared today on the Nokia UK store web page. It's available in a so-called Nokia N79 Eco pack. What makes it “Eco” is the lack of a charger. While that sounds...

"Includes 3 Free Xpress on Covers!" Well... good thing they aren't wasting plastic by making a charger... LOL. Oh, today I will make my phone chocolate instead of mocha. Thanks Nokia!

    Not the way to go.
Using standard USB for charging and then only include a USB-cable would be logical.
I already own a few nokia phones, but some of the chargers are broken... and the warranty of a charger is like 6 months,so that must mean that Nokia expect them to break quite easy... (might be ecause of how the users handle them, but still)

Nokia's chargers dont even last long in the firs place, 3 of mine have broken in the past 2 years..

Iv now got a chinese fake charger so far its working solidly and better then the originals of Nokia's which brake soo quickly becuase the pin is soo thin and brittle......

So Nokia is supplyings cheap chargers that brake quite quickly and now they say they aint going to give them in the packages?

TO ME THATS GOOD NEWS! lol!

You know what Next they shouldnt even give a Box!

so what happens if u have to sell your old phone? u tell the buyer that u cant give him the charger because u are not going to get a charger with your next phone.....well then the buyer needs to go into the market and invest in a charger?

Well i think nokia has started thinking that so many phones are sold so everyone has a charger so why waste time and money on giving chargers..

I don't get Nokia's point. No charger in the pack... so I'll have to buy it separatedly? Will it come in a pack? So actually there's no paper or plastic saving.

Quite a shrewd move, saving a shed load not making chargers, using smaller boxes, packing more handsets in each container ships/trucks while making people think they are helping the environment paying for a £300+ phone.

If you want a replacement handset and really care for the environment, there are tons of people who have the have the latest and greatest handset and are getting rid of their old phones. Buying a handset second-hand is far more ecological.

It's fine but strange. What if someone is buying Nokia for the first time?? Or even purchasing his first ever cell phone and he doesn't get a charger?! Will he need to buy it separately?!

If Nokia wants to care about nature, use less pollutant material in the handset like SE. Sony Ericsson has won green peace award 3rd time in a row for developing most eco-friendly phones in the world..

Why is there no phone in the box?It would be a lot more cheaper! And to be a true eco product, why not to put a recycled 1100 and to sell it for 319 Gbp!
