I've installed it today manually - the unbranded UK version from sammobile. For now it works very well, noticeably smoother than 4.1. Let's see how it will hold after a few days.

Just another reason why other phones and their prices are justified. Because of their excellent service. Example: Apple and their iPhone.

As we look around the flagship android phones of 2012 the only samsung and google nexsus phone will getting the updates till now . if we look around the other manufactures 2012 flagship phone.they already stop updating there phones for example.
htc one x+ > stops at 4.1.1
sony experia s > stops at 4.1.2
motorola razr maxx hd > stops at 4.1.1
lg optimus g > stops at 4.1.2
oppo find 5 > stops at 4.1.1
so these are the all flagship android phones of 2012 from different manufactures.so we should appreciate the work of samsung which provide the latest updates to almost 2 years old flagship phones. we also know that samsung also planing to give the 4.4 update to s3 in mid 2k14..so what else we expecting from the samsung. be patient ....

Lol. My new G2 stands better in palm. My S3 looks soooo old. Update to 4.3 won't help S3 any better.

A reasonable stable nightly of Android 4.4 Kitkat is available in cyanogenmod for Galaxy s3. Why not use it?

Samsung only good at releasing nonsense models but very poor in software/firmware update.
Why can't Samsung spend more time to work on Android OS so that all the old phones get updated.

AnonD-174570, 19 Dec 2013Even Google itself isn't doing a very good job in updating ... morebut you're forgetting that the cost and profit margin on Nexus devices is much lower than on Apple.
the level of service expected on a £500+ device compared to a £250 device should not be the same.
Also there is nothing stopping Nexus 4 users manually updating their device with a Custom ROM.
