GB is all they got and regular peoples that don't know how to root and install A costume rom are all left out. At least Nokia wp8 got amber update. Don't know about the others thus since they're not that good of players in the wp8 game.
Then again for normal regular cellphone users, do you really think they case about updates?

Unfortunately, the low to mid end models will be left out with the updates. It's sad thinking they're the majority and the reason why Nokia stays afloat in the market.

no surprise, low end units make up the majority of wp devices, the rest are for a large part older models on wp7.x still selling very well in many latin countries, which is a significant market. i know its hard for westerners to believe that wp7 is bestseller in some parts of the world but it has been verified by several market analyst sources.

So, I think what MS and Nokia needs to do right now is to get rid of carrier exclusive and unlock their phones. Since more and more carriers saying that they're going to drop the contact thing and there's no more (free phone/s long term contact). It's an wish thing to do, unlock their phones so every carriers can use it( for the sim one, not cdma)

Try to get out of your house and try to understand other peoples. For regular peoples a Nokia lumia 520/521 is more than enough already. It's phone, a 4G smartphone came with 5MP camera. And also try to think for parents, cause most of time when I see them with a iPhone or any hi-end android phone they don't actually know how to use it.

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2013You forgot the moto gMoto g is good. But, too bad it came too late, and also price and how easy you can get one really matter. Last time I check you can pick one up at bestbuy for 10 bucks more($79).
And honestly speaking wp8 are more user friendly and ease to use for regular people. Cause it's all there on the start screen.(not saying apps) just the usual.

The budget Lumia used to only support here map for one country only but there is no such mention for the 525. Anyone knows if such limitation will be imposed?

Microsoft needs to reduce the licenses for WP8 to very low or free to compete with Android. Android has too many OEMs making phones for it due to Android being free or very cheap.

Totally agree.
Not only the price is attractive, wp8 low-end phones actually work better than any android low-end to mid-range phones.
honestly speaking That even as a galaxy S3 user, I am pretty impressed By the lumia 52X lines. And for that I actually suggested most of my families to get a Nokia lumia 521. The little thing is a 4G smartphone with 5MP camera and able to do what most of hi-end smartphone can do.
And now the price is even more attractive, 521 is now just 69 dollars, and 520 is 59 dollars from Microsoft store dot com.

WP/MS have problem with increase market share, especially in USA, China. WP have the best results in Europe...especially in low-cost models. Why WP have good reults in UE ? It's Nokia achievements, without brand loyalty (to Nokia) in Europe MS dont have even 1% ;) (so far the rest of producers not care about WP). MS/WP dont get old Symbian fans because Adnroid are closer to philosophy of Symbian, WP is too locked OS, still lack of some functionality ( radio, support x4 core cpu, full hd etc. after three years after 3 years ?!).
