HTC wants nothing to do with Samsung wholy-owned companies, that's why they switched to SLCD in the first place.

Firstly it's not just black, it's all darker colors, LG has a curve for it, not so accurate but it's not just black.
Secondly pentile is for lifespan, because at the same output, blue burns out first then red then green, so increased both R/B subpixel size helps levelling the difference.
Thirdly if you can't read the second one properly, I'll spell out for ya. It's for the lifespan of all pixels: increased output shortens their lifespan. They have to research for tweaks to increase power without affecting the usefulness of the screen. Unlike LCD, you can't get more light source because they lit themselves and you only get so much real-estate on a screen. LCDs can get double or quadruple light sources if they want to.

Doesn't matter seeing how Sony's marketing as far as the USA is concerned is atrocious at best.
The Z1 STILL is not released in The USA. I would have bought it by now if it was but they took too long so I grabbed a GS4.

For the love of God people, this TFT = crap misconception has got to stop. Listen up: ALL (meaning literally every. single. one.) mobile displays are TFT. IPS is TFT. AMOLED is TFT. They are all TFT. Second, Sony's new displays are fantastic. The one on the Xperia Z Ultra is every bit as good as the HTC One's panel, and better than the Note 3's. By the way, Sony does not make the One's display. Sharp does.
Let's please learn what we're talking about with respect to displays.

Why do you think Samsung always uses PenTile in their displays? Why do you think it is that they're never as bright as LCDs?
