I can understand that developers need to make money but having to purchase (with real money) items in a game that's NEEDED to progress or advance through really ruins it for me (an example is an RPG where you need to purchase the life and resurrection potions to be able to heal your party members; for an RPG game this is a critical item, NOT AN ADD-ON!). The game may cost 1-5 bucks but adding all the in-app purchases just to make the game enjoyable makes it even more expensive then buying a full version of any computer game!

I'm not an Apple fan, but in this case I don't get why Apple has to pay...

It's the parents that allow this to happen by giving high-end phones to their kids or allowing them to use their own phones for hours... Parents should take responsibility for not parenting...

AnonD-126854, 16 Jan 2014Apple did it not only to fool the kids, but also for many i... morewow you realise that not all people in the world have common sense, dont lable people by the products they buy.

if someone doesnt understand when the app says they are about to pay money then they are stupid, if they are giving their handset and password to their children they are stupid, doesnt mean all iphone users are.

also i think you'll find apple make their customer aware of purchases beforehand so how does that mean they are trying to fool them?

in the end of the day look after you passwords and read the screen before putting your passwords in

Learn not to allow your kids to be glued to devices perhaps?

Better yet, don't give them a phone as a way to get them out of your hair.

AnonD-8044, 16 Jan 2014Why cant you just pay for the full game upfront and that's ... moreSame. I know it's profitable for developers but i hate paying for a game and then i have to continue paying to advance. We can't gauge the worth of the game this way.

This is just plain lack of common sense... I think it is the parent's responsibility to put a restriction on the phone they let their children borrow to play. Its just as simple as going to settings, create a simple passcode, then disable the in-app and app purchases if you don't want un-authorise usage. OR better yet: do not register your credit card number in the first place if you do not know how to secure it. LOL

Android 4.3 & up and WP has great parental controls (Multi-user and a child mode respectively). iOS has not.

The most disgusting things about games are in app purchases. You pay for the full game but you still need to pay to unlock levels, and other power ups. I can pay the full amount for a game but I need to pay to buy power ups to play the game. That kills the game. In app purchases are spawn of devils.

When ever you buy an application you need to enter your password. That’s means parents are sharing their password with children’s if that’s the case then anyone can buy application.

I don't get it, why such complain about IAP? You think that this is 'sales trick' by apple? You do not think that developers that maintain some servers where game platform is and further working on apps should capture some revenue? IAP is choice you make, you do not have to do it. Apple has already built in protection from IAP which works fine and it was introduced due to early claims of parents.
If you like to purchace at once the apps, that is your choice. Yet do you expect that such app will be further developed and that some new features will be added?

.... Kids nowadays are spoilt by parents. Even teachers cannot touch or educate them anymore, let alone Apple's IAP...

In all seriousness, the complaining parents need to LEARN how to control their kids.

Is Apple going to take that role too?.. What about google play store?

Arif, 16 Jan 2014Apple need to enable Parental Controls for In-App Purchases... moreApple did it not only to fool the kids, but also for many ignorant grown ups , to milk them.
Bet on, that many of this cases , the parents was fulled by Apple , but
they don't want to admit it(well, we know "the most intelligent smartphone
users", right?), and put it on the kids, not to look stupid, and to get the
                                    money back easily.
This 32 millions that Apple pay now, are not enough,

Why GSMA missed to say HOW Apple "has settled with the US Federal Trade Commission over the issue with in-app purchases."?????
