I think Samsung manufacturing should provide more than Eye recognition & fingerprint, but I'm expecting more with Galaxy S5.

All you lot talk about is geeks who use gsmarena there are billions more just normobs who use Bluetooth..Just because us geeks do stuff our way it does not represent the whole planet..Blackberry is still big round my area but none of you lot would accept this would cause what you say is gospel...

Its a box of electronics (that's all) and the best smartphone/phone is the one that suites your needs and budget..I swap between IOS and Android and other phones and enjoy the lot..

An iPhone is best described as a very good music player that has limited video playback support and phone functions. It's your choice for minimizing yourselves to the most basic rudimentary features of the smartphones of the masses. It can't do the dozen or more things I've been mentioning I personally need for daily use like the Galaxy Note 3.

Apple has resorted to copying Android features currently. iPhone can NEVER replicate the extra features the Galaxy Note series have. No memory expansion. No NFC for a bit of connection automation. No Wi-Fi Direct to any device. No Bluetooth data transfer to other device. No infrared blaster for remote controls. No ambient temperature and humidity sensor. No user removable battery. No direct wired to projector or TV. No stereo audio for video recording. No Wacom digitizer system.

I love how GSMarena always put the simmering water on Samsung yet when Apple is considering to release a smart watch with an oled display and an iphone with a larger display, there was not a single samsung user who claimed that Apple is copying Samsung. The worst part being nothing but a rumour to abhor Samsung.

I would select the 2nd because after spending $700 I can't bear then pain of chopy and laggy browser.
On my note 3 browsing experience is same as some $150 anroid phone.
Plz admit this fact ios is polished refined professional and preminum. Don't fool yourself and other by giving the false aadvantage of open OS.
If preloaded OS is perfect then you don't neend an open OS to male ot perfect.
On note 3 which claimed to be the best phone nowdays soon after purchasing I installed Textra for messing MX player for wachinf movies Quickpic for albums oper for browing and so much more. Why? Because all the preloaded apps are totally worthless.

I came ttoone result after using iphone and galaxy. When apple adds a feature its perfect and work all the time in all conditions and very practial too and give an essence of polished and finished feature backed with plenty of research and testing. In galaxy all the future are useless never work and seems all unfinished backed with no proper testing. For eg
                      Apple touch ID
Works every time I use it all the the and it never fails me.
On my mote 3 all the ghmicky features air veiw , air gesture smart stay smart scroll smart pause all of them are total worthless , work 2 out of 10 if lucky and never work in low light condition at all. And veryyyy impractical too. Its soooo stupid to swap you hand over the screen and then move around entire phone come back and the wave again jst to scroll a photo. Whats the use of toucy screen then?
Thanks samsung am ok with simple touch to change my photo or scroll my web page.

"Ok, don't make fool out of yourself here. Try testing this: bluetooth a pic from your iphone to my old Nokia." A: read your request again and ask yourself why would you want to do that? lolz

"Do you eat with feet? Oh yeah, you still eventually eat. LOL! Got my point?" A: I have no idea why you use feet with eat. But the point is, some eat with forks and some eat with chopsticks at the end of the day we ate. Got it?

"Ok, let's not go there since I have read about that some time ago. Now, is that stopping most users from accessing flash-enabled sites from their computers? Do average users care about Apple's reasons?"

Unfortunately Yes, people care about Apple's reasons. And it makes sense. Flash is still very buggy and messy. We can see that alot of web content are working away from flash. We all notice that iphone can play more contents than before.. why? we are not longer dependent on flash to run many things like we used to.

" Yeah just like having GPS on smartphones, you would also say they are useless when there are e.g. car GPS devices with larger screen that does better job."

This was a bad example from you. I think GPS on smartphones is one of the most solid useful thing. I don't know about you but most Car GPS devices don't get updated much. it becomes inaccurate. With a cell phone, it's with you, you can use it everywhere and it is connected to the web so it is updated all the time. best of all the updates and the gps apps are free.. i'm sorry my dear, your example is very bad in this one.

"If that's the case you can simply disable them and turn it off."

This is exactly my point. why would u sell me 20 new gimmicks on the S5 when the average user will turn 18 of them OFF because they are useless and drains battery?

" I've used my first Nokia since 1994 and what's your point here? Oldest used all phones?"

My point is... i've been around so don't even try to go there. lolz

freedom to pair/share files with almost all bluetooth enabled devices: oh wow as if we don't have any other ways to share files! A: Ok, don't make fool out of yourself here. Try testing this: bluetooth a pic from your iphone to my old Nokia.

"freedom of downloading, freedom to play almost all audio/video formats, freedom to drag and drop any files using USB without the need of itunes" So at the end of the day we all get our downloaded music and played so what's ur point? Lol A: Do you eat with feet? Oh yeah, you still eventually eat. LOL! Got my point?

"freedom to run flash-enabled websites" Ok did you read the article on why SJ insisted NO on flash on iphones? There's a reason why people don't put something this big in their products! A: Ok, let's not go there since I have read about that some time ago. Now, is that stopping most users from accessing flash-enabled sites from their computers? Do average users care about Apple's reasons?

"certain devices have the freedom to control TVs, A/V equipments, even your air-conditioner when you are on your bed...and all that just fraction of it" Ok like 99% of us do these things. I think it would be easier for me to press that little button on my remote control on the coffee table than the gimmicks. A: Yeah just like having GPS on smartphones, you would also say they are useless when there are e.g. car GPS devices with larger screen that does better job.

"Even without all these "gimmicky" features I highly doubt if iphones give you much superior battery life than Androids."

The point is, we don't have these gimmicks that drains battery more than it's purpose. A: If that's the case you can simply disable them and turn it off. So tell me which device has set a clear benchmark for consuming lowest power by battery size, processor speed, screen size and etc?

I've used phones since 1997 so don't even try to think that i have not used an android. A: LOL! That's the most gimmicky answer. I've used my first Nokia since 1994 and what's your point here? Oldest used all phones?

gam30toronto, 20 Jan 2014I have used a stock android so don't even try to go there :... moreOn iOS , Apple controls everything.

On Android , Control goes to OEM+Google which means there is much better flexibility :)

                                For example , hardware choice.

Nobody is stuck with tiny screen or huge a** screen.Users can choose from huge diversity of devices.

For example , I like chrome better than safari on my iPad.
If someone shares a link , Then after pressing it , safari automatically launches , then I must copy that url , exit safari and go into chrome and paste it.

duh ! such a lengthy process.

On my phone , I can set default browser. That's where freedom comes in Android.

If I don't like an icon (like music icon) , I can't change it or tweak it !!

Again nothing can be done.On Android , I can change the ugly icon and choose from many.

What if I want to change the front entire system ? Too bad , I can't do it.

Lets say that I want to share something to apps other than facebook/twitter...........I can't share them because share menu doesn't have all options.

I must exit out of that , choose the app I want to share and then share it (that too not all apps support it).On Android , Sharing options increase as you install more apps.

Example , If there is no facebook app , there won't be facebook in sharing menu etc.

Lets say that I want to auto-upload photos to dropbox , I can't ! Too bad again.
iOS limits background processes , If I lock device or exit the app , upload freezes and it must be resumed again.

I can do that on Android.I am not stuck with photo stream.
One of the reasons why flicker sharing is so popular among iOS users is due to the lack of direct share options like in Android.

What if I want to pair new bluetooth device , I can't do that without going into settings !
                                duh ! its 2014 already.

On Android , I can long press bluetooth toggle and I will be inside bluetooth settings or I can just turn on bluetooth , It will pop-up a windows showing me all devices right there without jumping into settings screen.

iOS is bad ? not at all.Its an excellent OS but its subjective.
Is Android very good ? Yes or No.Depends on users needs.

iOS is good if you like Apple's way of doing things. If you don't like something ....Too bad you can't change it because Apple has total control (for example , browser like I mentioned above.Chrome has chrome sync enabled)
