And how well will they run with a 2010 processor?"

Many. I have 163 apps in that space. They run very well, apps arent heavy, games are. Trust me I know, few months ago i used 2009 processor (iPhone 3GS) even that handled most of apps. Biggest problem with iPhone 4 is heavy games but i dont think that is much of problem for casual user.

patrix, 21 Jan 2014Inspite of it's Price.....the phone is actually gonna sell ... moreIf owning an Apple device is a matter of prestige, Indians are better off spending more for an iPad Mini or less for an iPod Touch. This is a terrible value proposition.

That said, this will be a true test of how many fools with disposable incomes there are in the country.

And that's only for 2014. Keep the phone for 3 years and it'll be completely outdated for at least two of the years.

Give it up fanboy. This move by Apple is indefensible and offensive.

And this is coming from someone who owns AAPL stock.

For a normal person here, APPLE is like something out of the world & anything with APPLE branding is going to be awesome.
This phone ain't gonna sell good in cities for sure but in villages this is the cheapest Apple product & hardly a person would care about specifications. Owning an Apple device is a Prestige thing for many.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2014They should have relaunched the 4s rather than 4. They didn't relaunch the 4S for a reason. They don't want to devalue their global sales of the 4S with a lower price in India.

Ergo, the India special. A specific attempt aimed at ripping off Indians while preserving the value of their global 4S sales. Indians should be offended by this.

Majority of Indian buy phones within the price range of Rs.8000 - 12000. And many of them have no clue what they are buying.

And those who buy phones over Rs.12000 they are a bit educated about phones so there's no way they will buy worthless Iphone 4.

I can't stop laughing whenever I think about every one of Apple's strategy fails miserably in India.

Honestly, I don't get the point of such a move. Indians are brand oriented, but not to the same extent as the Chinese. As such, there aren't going to be too many lower income Indians who'd pick up an iPhone 4 over any of the other Rs. 22000 offerings.

Apple needs to accept that there are limits to its strategy in India.
