Hopefully the Chinese will look at Motorola as the ThinkPad line of mobile phones. This means the next Moto X just might see a FHD screen along with a microSD slot, AND an immediate worldwide availability.

I am not sure what was behind getting Motorola in the first place.
I mean, you purchased Motorola and gave Nexus 5 to LG... pretty weird :/

Sony is the only tier one manufacturer to be profitable besides Samsung and Apple. The Android makers losing money are LG, HTC and Moto. Why you turn things on the head? Sony has by far the most promising future out of these 4 brands, they even managed to pay off Ericssons share of the venture.

When Sony is going to sell its mobile division ? they are most certainly bankrupt.

Motorola may have been legendary in times past in the U.S. and I think also China but everywhere else not so much. I think Motorola can help Lenovo mostly in the U.S. and doubtful everywhere else.

It did poorly even under Google so it will not help much under Lenovo. I think the main reason for the acquisition is for Lenovo to get into the U.S. market through Motorola - the brand is pretty much useless everywhere else.

Even its patent portfolio didn't help Motorola much against loosing the patent cases against it my Microsoft.

But they lost money due to operational losses.

So , after all google bought motorola for 11 million and sold for 3 million . what a profit they had made . amazing! even google screwed up mobile business and every one blames nokia .

None of them are close enough to bankruptcy. Samsung gets billions not only from electronics, they focus on multiple markets including construction, insurance and heavy equipment. Google has a rich patent portfolio but it's biggest market is still software. Anyway, at first sight it looks like Google lost quite a few billions selling Motorola for less than 20% of what they paid in 2012.

And so much for the USA pride Motorola used to attack others, now its a CHinese company. Ironic.
