Anonymous, 30 Jan 2014why microsoft allowing this to become reality ...pls someon... moreDear; 2 reasons

1. Bottom line research/market assessment (Nokia is only an R&D department in Microsoft)
2. To kill Nokia completely - its a half baked android mod, which means it won't be practical and will only leave users wanting the real android experience.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2014And you know, Windows XP could run on 64GB RAM, but how wel... moreBeing myself a proud owner of a 2011 Sony (with 512MB of RAM) which is currently running the latest CM11 build from LegacyXperia (which is the very latest Android 4.4.2), I can tell your claims are plain bull.

KitKat itself runs very well with just 512MB of RAM, even with the aging single-core SoC that fits my 2011 phone (which doesn't even comply with it's requirements, namely the ion memory allocation).

Obviously you cannot honestly expect to do heavy multitasking on a phone with such little memory, neither should you even consider the heavy demanding games. But guess what?

NORMANDY IS SUPPOSED TO BE A BARE BOTTOM BUDGET PHONE.

You can still do the vast majority of tasks you come to expect from an Android phone. BBM? Done. Whatsapp? Done. Vine? For sure. Facebook? Obviously. Snapchat? Yap. Tomtom? Works fine. Angry Birds? Sure. (and so on and on)

JK , 30 Jan 2014512 mb ram is enough for android kitkat version, this state... moreAnd you know, Windows XP could run on 64GB RAM, but how well do you think it did it? Not well at all. Now how well will KitKat run with 512MB? Not well at all.

I bet kitkat with 512MB will be worse than Gingerbread with 256MB. Never look at minimum requirements, it should be renamed to "recipe for disaster".

And YES it always crash and hang but that was normal for HTC at the time, as the Sense they used back then was super bloated and very poorly programmed, in fact i think the whole thing was coded by designers because lower programming skills you cant find anywhere else.

Other android phones with similar hardware, like for example Xperia 2011 models, never hang or crash. It was HTCs defective software and had nothing to do with Android.

I reme... moreI have and android phone with 512mb ram, never crashed, so, does that mean Android is solid and never crash? of course no! this is just my case, and your case is not different, if your phone crashed it does not mean all android with 512 will.

BTW, i don't like android, this phone was a gift from my brother, still, 512mb ram and works fine.

Kapoor G, 30 Jan 2014Check out the share of Android in the market too mate. Mor... moreAnd by the way..

it is getting worse, not better.

Last year a McAfee statistic showed fewer android viruses pro phone. This year android is event more frequently attacked than last year.

If you care about safety - choose windows or ios or a dump phone

Kapoor G, 30 Jan 2014Check out the share of Android in the market too mate. Mor... moreThere are some 30 times more android viruses pro android phone than pro windows or ios phone.
So the market share argument is nonsense.

In other words - you are 30 times more likely to get a virus using android than using ios or windows.

I really don't care whether it is because android is popular, or whether it is because it is a bad oparating system.

If I can choose between a care that has a probability of 0,5% to brake down and one that has a probability of 99% to brake down, I choose the first one. Because I want to drive safely.
And I don't care why the other (Android) is not working.

                                  Simple inst't it ?

but 512mb ram is just pathetic even for a low-end phone in 2014
