why did this phone never make it outside of japan? ugh. would take this in heartbeat over a z3 or z3c, just because it doesn't have glass on the back.

The only difference is the compact design (but thicker) since the camera sensor is directly behind the display instead of above... and 32GB of internal memory

I agree that they went with "ZL" naming because of the compactness... but this is similar to ZR...

If this device hits internationally I hope it retains the internal memory... I completely love this phone...

Anonymous, 09 May 2014But the sale is always better than sony hahaBeen a Samsung user for the past 2 years. Currently a Sony user for about 7 months. To be frank, if I were to change my phone again this year (most probably not because I will be serving national service), I might go for the HTC One M8 or this ZL2. Not really fancying a move back to Samsung.
Not really sure what's the reason, but most people in my country owns a Samsung phone. And people get most hyped about the latest Samsung addition. Samsung has captured a large group of die hard fans/users. May be due to the familiarity of the touchWiz user interface I guess?

Are you sure this phone has a non-removable battery- because that's a real dealbreaker as sony's batteries wear out and become bad very quickly (experience for xperia z and z1)
