You Know Me, 04 Jun 2014HTC can blame themselves for sheer idiocy. A 4mp camera in... moreThe PR people at Sony and HTC need to let their guys have access to GSMARENA reviews of mobile phones and NOTE 2 (self)re the pros and cons on page one

Samsung does NOT have thick skin in fact it is plastic but they have stuck doggedly to this
    1) MEMORY EXPANSION
    2) REMOVEABLE BATTERY

Fos as long as I have been buying phones NOT having this has always been a negative,(and GSMARENA have always said so

Put another way you are held ransom to the phone as you can use up all memory PLUS the 2 hours plus to recharge a battery.

The world is littered with devices that all you do is whip out the depleted battery and replace it with a charged battery

I can't comment on ultra pixels good bad but HTC like all phone makers who don't have BOTH 1&2 are NOT even in the running

Only last week my phone froze switched it of and on still frozen the number one cure all BATTTERY PULL. fixed

The people at LG have or I assume have read the GSMarena reviews.

The LG G2 flag ship phone I could not even tell uou what the specs however the lG G3 which came with EXPANSION & REMOVABLE BATTERY is outselling the S5 by a factor of 3 in KOREA

It is NOT the high specs that (IMO) draw people to phones but the versatility it must have these two

I have just had a looksee at the LG G2 and LG G3 comparison, the LG G3 is essentially the LG G2 that has BOTH expansion and removable battery restored and a slightly bigger and better display

It could easily be called the LG G2S for the minor tweaks it is.

ok the point is the LG G3 otutsold the S5 per gsmarena article and all LG did was to addadd expansion and access to the battery

Nice job HTC, you're great in pricing.

        @SDKforLumia & @jopps

I've said it once, and I'll say it again.

A powerful device without a feature rich software suite is useless. Nowadays, every flagship device pretty much boasts high-end specs e.g. Snapdragon 800+, Adreno 305+, 2/3GB RAM.

So, it boils down to which manufacturers are giving consumers the best software options. In that regard, Samsung runs circles around all competitors. And that's not an opinion, it's a fact.

Once the S5 Prime drops in a few weeks with the same great software, Snapdragon 805, Adreno 420, 3GB RAM, USB 3.0, Super AMOLED QHD, 16MP rear camera, LTE-A, etc, it's game over! Wrapping everything up in a metal chassis wouldn't matter to me, but for some that may also be a plus.

People hate admit it, but it's true. No other mobile manufacturer in the world beats Samsung, and they have the track record to prove it. The amount of blind-hate they receive comes with the territory. Most of these people probably never used the device before and are just jumping on the bandwagon. However, as soon as the aforementioned haters go in to check out a Samsung device in person, they almost always convert.

I saw it coming: many mobile stores in South Africa don't have HTC M7, the less we mention HTC M8 the better. Marketing,Marketing,Marketing. Very old HTC phones costs $450-600 imagine how costly will the current HTC phones be. it's very sad day for me by this news. however, HTC for life no matter what

              Hi guys,

EVRYTHING that @SDKforLumia wrote below IS TRUE!

I now have Samsung galaxy S5, and I was very unsure which mobile phone to buy, S5, M8 or Z2 I have red almost all articles on the web I could find and 90% of are just propaganda for M8.

S5 is the best trust me, M8 sucks, samsung S5 is very nice and beautiful when you see it live, and hold it, it doesn't have plastic look, it looks expensive as it have metal on the edges, and back side looks really great, not cheap, not plastic it looks really good.

Size is greatly balanced, H W and slimness, most of options I can use by one hand but for some opt 2 hands are needed.

It feels great in hand; screen is top noch, clear, sharp, on sun like there is no sun.

              - It is waterproof, you can take pictures underwater
              - Fingerprint sensor is REALY great, it works on first try, you enter your fingerprint 8 times for software to remember so after there is no mistakes, opens screen on first time, every time.
              - Camera is absolutley fantastic, I have never seen so good pictures and video taken with a phone
              - Health app is really great, you can read reviews online also, app si great
              - Dual interenet speed, you can be conected on BOTH WIFI AND DATA and use double speed
              - Milion options to customise your phone, from gestures, motion, air browse, customise evrything from locked screen apps to notification area, GREAT tools option can be activated (most used apps in one container and then it shows above everything like in the air and move it where and when you want), customisation of your settings area, you can decide where and how your settings will look and behave, super power save (black and white screen), normal power save, and more and more...

It is SUPER fast, no lags, almost incredible how it is fast and responsive

You can read comparison review here on GSM arena M8 vs. S5 and you will see that I'm telling the truth, S5 KICKS ASS out of M8 in all categories, except in two: metal casing and speakers, AND THAT IS IT.

S5 offers so much more, what do you need metal casing for? Show of your crapy phone, unbalanced, over sized in height, and that is it.

              http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s5_vs_htc_one_m8-review-1067.php

Z2 is a great phone, but couple of things I didn't like:

              1. Design is too square for my taste, I see it as expensive small brick, bulky form
              2. Glossy finishing on BOTH sides, OMG, that is HORRIFIC. That means that dust, filth and fingerprint smudges are all over the phone, back side and front side it looks and feels horrific
              3. Lack of some options that S5 have

The only thing HTC should have made is put a 8UP or 13+MP camera. But the 4MP with its software is not THAT bad.

it's the same "mimimi" about bezzels, go but the same plastic Samsung with rear horrible speakers then.

And I see a lot of people complaining about removable battery, but I'M SURE 99% of them do not use two batteries, and unlike other HTCs phones, the battery is HUGE ENOUGH to live for more than a day, so you do not have to worry about unless you live in nowhere without energy.

The same people who complains about the removable battery, are the ones who uses a cellphone with 16gb+ max 32gb micro sd, or even a 32+32gb earlier and complained about internal 64GB of HTC One M7.

You just don't have the image like Apple to charge such premium price...! Pls learn from your Chinese counterpart. With more n more affordable Chinese brands coming up, u'll dive like bungee jumping without string attached.

I believe that htc m8 is a total disappointment... how can you go backward in terms of camera quality from m7 and expect to compete with Samsung s5 and Sony Xperia Z2? Was in Vivid Sydney and the difference between the picture quality of M8 and Xperia Z1 are quite high.. what more with the Xperia Z2? I just went back to my m7.

htc always produced best gadgets but their costs arent as well as their gadgets ..
plus that i think next quarter will be great for htc with desire 816-e8-m8 and maybe m8 max..
i m going for htc for quality/design and performance not their sales when Chinese brand sales in high number with less options/quality and performance..
sales number dont mean for be better.

As u all may know, I rarely comment here, but here, today I feel like forced to write this comment.
A few days back, I went to a superstore and got a chance to witness both HTC M8 and Samsung S5. Well I know its a bit off topic but let me start with the S5 1st. 1st of all let me tell u that I am in no way a Samsung fanboy, but man I was really really surprised by how surprisingly good looking this S5 in real life is. Yes it is made of plastic but in no way does it seem like a cheap phone. On the contrary, it looks one of the most polished devices among all the current flagships. And that was really a big surprise, as I was really expected it to be as ugly in real life as it looked in pics and as people complained. The 2nd surprise was its UI, YES it is overly colorful or as some people complain, childish, but man was it fast! Ran like a thunder. Those features. And then the camera. I really have no words how amazed I was with image quality of this phone. In short, it out lived my wildest expectations and I felt extremely annoyed by how untrue all those remarks about this device were. Not to mention, when the sales girl demonstrated its water resistance and dived it into water and the way its screen glowed under water. Man! It was like the phone was actually talking to me, " so mr, now what?"
Now about this glorious HTC M8 of u guys, the 1st thing that I at least noticed immediately after lifting in my hands was how INSANELY tall it was. No body balance as it is uncomfortably tall and stupidly thin. Yes u read it right. Stupidly thin. It just goes out of balance, I was trying so hard to get any proper justification for that useless extra bezel, but I couldn't find any except those boom speakers. Bow 1st of, how many of u can really honestly tell me, that u guys enjoy music on ur phone without headphones or some external speakers even if it has speakers as good as this M8? And for me, personally that water protection on S5 is a far far better feature than these boom speakers on HTC M8. Just one fall into water and BOOM! ur 800$ phone is gone. Now about the build quality. No single opinion about that M8 uses really fancy chassis but does it feel significantly better than S5? I don't think so. Is it more user friendly? No. It is aluminum and that's all about it. Imagine, if by any hard, u break ur phone's back one day, can u tell me plz which one be easy to repair? HTC M8 or S5?? And then cones that CAMERA of 4 ultrapixels. Honestly, my Nokia Lumia 720's 6.7 mp cam actually takes better shots than this M8. I am serious. I actually compared them. The detail of my Lumia 720's pics was far more superior than M8's. I don't and never will understand why HTC omitted that only goodie about their camera i.e, OIS.
so in the end, I don't see anything remotely disturbing or shocking about HTC is falling. They every bit deserve this. Since i was also a huge HTC lover once, but for now, their stupid manufacturing and silly marketing has really let me down. I think i am going to get a galaxy S5 prime or LG G3
