HTC sales fall again despite love for the One M8

Well it seems like a lot of people don't 'love' 15 cm long phones. Or 13,5 cm 'mini' phones (one m8 mini). A lot of people want good hardware in an ERGONOMIC package. Htc doesnt sell you that. It sells you soso camera's that do not resolve any detail. And they sell you big speakers? If it weren't for the excellent design and metal body, htc would have sold hardly any M8

seriously i wouldve gotten the M8 if it werent for the 4MP..
im not deciding to get LG G3 or Sony Z2...

To the author, reviews do not sell devices, a product that makes sense and people want, not because you and all the rest news articles are blinded by the bling "looks", its the hardware and software stupid, HTC never understood, so their slow but sure demise is warranted. It' the recent polycarbonate version that they needed to bring to the market from the get go, lighter. more durable, better camera, and if they would have included a removable battery, it would have sold like hot cakes, but who am I, just a past HTC owner who left those clowns years ago, shiny and metal does not make a phone.

it makes sense.. they are stupid enough to continue with the UltraPixels bullshit instead of implementing a 13MP standard camera.. the phone itself is good but the camera destroys it.. and for all the haters who do not mind about the cam, come on now, don't tell me you have your digital camera on you everytime you're going out.. sometimes you want to catch some nice pics and the quality is missing.. I have myself the M7 and I am really disappointed of the cam..

4MP camera was a dumb decision. Also the phone is almost impossible to disassemble and repair.

The size of the sensor is always measured in Megapixels and it is very much a 4 MP camera. ULTRAPIXELS is a term used by HTC to signify that the pixel size is larger than usual (2 micrometers) and has nothing to do with the resolution. Don't troll yourself.

That, and HTC being retarded in including the same camera as last year. Plus being itself low MP.
Also the insanity of removing optical stabilization for some software bullshit.

hanu, 04 Jun 2014first is not 4mp it 4 ultrapixel second it is not outdated... moreBezel is too big because of the HTC-logo below the screen, front speakers are good but the HTC-logo makes the bottom bezel far too big! "Ultrapixels" are normal pixels, only a little bigger than are usually used on mobile phone cameras! 4 MP are still only 4 MP even if HTC call them "ultrapixels"!

second it is not outdated its latest tech in field of cameras, although it sucks.
third bigger bessels are coz of stereo speakers being in front of phone rather than at back.

4 Mp camera is outdated crap, and the HTC-logo makes the bottom bezel too big, and those are the reasons why very few want to actually buy M8!

It hurts to see HTC die a painful death like this. Indeed, the gimmicky 4 MP ultrapixel camera didn't turn out to be quite the trend-setter they hoped it to be, quite the opposite in fact. But for a company that has a history of making impeccable devices like the Desire HD, Sensation XL, One S, One X and even the aluminium clad Ones, this is surely not a way to fall. HTC needs to really crack their whip on PR professionals to get top-class marketing strategies, something that helps to sell even mediocre devices (Hugh Jackman trying to push the Micromax Canvas Turbo is one instance)

if HTC really wants to boost their sales, they should consider these :
- removable battery. people prefer it over thin device.
- no ultrapixel! regular camera with good sensor and good processing algorithm would be better than ultrapixel.
- improve the quality of the products. i mean, look at last year's M7, it has so many troubles. more than half of it had to be sent back to Taiwan to fix the troubles.

If only the M8 would have had at least a 8 MP (or 8 Ultrapixel) camera, it would have been an absolute winner! With only 4 MP, it's a fail! You can't compare it to LG, Samsung, Nokia, Sony or even iPhone 5 or 5S when it comes to pictures quality. I tried it.
HTC engineers should have thought this through: it's 2014, you can't have a 4 MP camera on a flagship.

the only thing i don't like on my HTC ONE M8 is its ultrapixel camera...there is NOTHING ultra about it.looks more like a conventional 5 mpx,with burning contrast,and wide lens.i realy don't take pics at night,but even if i did,i use flash or lights from other sources.i believe this is one and only reason,pepople do not want to waist money for,especialy when lot of us buy a phone for it's camera...
but,then again,i realy love everything else on it!speakers,screen,design,materials,SENSE 6.0,whole UI,battery...

I bet all the people who are winning about 4up camera haven't used it. I chose S5 just because hTC one had 4up camera which I thought would be useless. Just got a chance to use my friend's HTC one & trust me the camera is awesome. Low light performance is exceptional. Even day time pictures come out pretty good as image stabilisation is great on HTC one where as with Samsung it is almost impossible to get a non blured image of any moving object.

despite of fabulous innovations like ultrapixel or boom sound ( those who are unaware of ultrapixel pl keep out of this) and also introducing the products like desire 816 & 610 at affordable prices when such a company is on the verge of extinction it really feels bad hope HTC keep alive and keep showing the world how to build mobile phones.
