[deleted post]I'd like to replace the Metro interface with a different launcher please. I would like the option to have a differnt SMS client with extra functionality. I would like a different dialler please. No chance I will have what MS say and stuff me if I don't like it. Guess what? Most people do the same to MS as a result.

Satya has made a very bold move by removing all the legacy left by Steve B. and Stephen E.

Selling off the hardware divisions such as X-Box console, Surface Tablet, Lumia phone would be next move.

Focusing on developing apps for Android & iOS would be main focus especially for mobility enterprise which will compete with IBM.

Focusing on gaming for Android and iOS would be another big making money source.

Next develop games for Sony PS and Nintendo which were previously only exclusive to X-Box due to Steve B. protectionism that lost potential multi billion dollar revenue for Microsoft.

The last would be cloud computing that Satya expert in.

AnonD-152462, 17 Jul 2014LOL! sony isn't even smart enough to defeat samsung.LoL, Sony's strategy looks to be a no competing one, and their mobile sector earnings is slowly but steadily growing by offering quality....whereas Samsung's profits are slowly but steadily declining...
      So...figure it out yourself :-P

AnonD-284563, 17 Jul 2014what's wrong with windows phone? huh? :PNothing from a choice perspective. However, you have obviously used WP and Android, maybe even Symbian too, to be able to do a comparison. I have used Symbian, WM 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5 and Android GB, ICS, JB and KK. No I have not used WP in versions 7 or 8.x but since I like a choice in how I use and configure a product I have paid for why would I?

I was planning to go for a WP device. But this attitude of MS left me no choice but to give up the idea.
              Bad move MS

I did not understand why nokia built the X at first place, they have the lumia, and even worse, they tried to mimic windows phone experience in X,
I think killing it is right.

BTW, I am G.nex owner, and not MS fanboy

They already killed their own brainchild the Windows Mobile and they did it without mercy, so what will prevent them not to repeat the same thing many times over.

Nokia X like other person, to me felt like something they NEEDED to achieve a decent profit margin & revive. Windows phone will never outpace android, its just stupid.

alexv, 17 Jul 2014i'm not sure these last years whether microsoft is planning... moreWhat is there not to understand? MS took over Nokia because of its factory, experience and net of providers and sellers...Now that they established strong enough Lumia trademark they dont need Nokia anymore....
Expect to see Lumia phones without Nokia mark in near future...
Nokia is all together dead, just a MS satellite now

Nokia xl would have benefited from wp 8.1. android on it sucked. android on any device sucks

darkraver, 17 Jul 2014Sony producing windows phone?! Since when? They are too sma... moreSorry, my mistake. Indeed they are too msart. I would say Nokia were obviously not so smart but then they had the MS placed stooge who was clearly on a mission to destroy them so his true paymasteres could get Nokia on the cheap. To say I hate him with a passion is the understatement of the millenium. I hope he gets to lay awake for many slpeepless nights thinking of the people that have lost their jobs as a result. I hope he is proud, Not!

                                Truthfully,

WP is more stable than android, doesn't lag and smoother.
Only down side are missing features like file manager and more. If they have more apps and design better smartphones that can do more....

I'm sure their market share will increase.
