I knew this was coming. It's a simple case of lack of focus, insensitivity to customer desires and most of all; greed! R.I.P Nokia!!

May be Windows OS is more secured , may be windows is growing , may be one day it will have the ease and comfort of operation BUT the fact is that Windows in mobile phones is no match for Android Phones...atleast in this part of the world. MS is making the biggest mistake Nokia went down from numero uno position because it just did not read into what market was moving towards ANDROID and now when they had started building some position with X series MS thinks it will be better off making windows phone ....alas it is only a veil to hide the real thing .They had no other excuse to lay off so many people.MS this is your commercial suicide as far as your mobile business is concerned. You killed Nokia.

"Microsoft's phone engineering efforts are expected to be concentrated in Salo, Finland (for future, high-end Lumia products) and Tampere, Finland (for more affordable devices)"

That's good. Keep the great designs and build quality of Nokia

Congratulations MS. You just dumped the whole lot of people who make nokia phones with legendary built quality for decades. You think you can buy the nokia name and technology and then use your inexperienced staff to make good quality phones? LOL. The key here is human resource. Without them you are nothing. Believe me nokia phones by microsoft will be as bad quality as cheap china phones. I predict MS will close its business in less than 3 years. RIP Nokia.

Android is buggy crap. Good riddance of Nokia X. Microsoft is now focusing on flagship Windows Phones that will change the world.

Problem with windows phone is lack of apps, mostly domestic apps and bank apps. There really only few developers that support WP :(

                          Not only Nokia X...

"The news comes from an internal memo sent out by Jo Harlow which reveals that the focus now is only on windows phone. Asha, Series 40 and Nokia X will shift to ‘maintenance mode’ and support will be shut down to existing devices over the next 18 months."

So they will kill Asha, S40, probably S30 too. This is the end of Nokia. Damn.

                            Xbox1...given a good hiding by Ps4

Windows phone...no one really want it over the android OS version.

First of all, it is very bad thing for hard-working people to lose their job due to company's fast growing model.

I am working at Microsoft, and I can feel what those guys must be feeling who were just informed that they wont be working anymore here. Though major lay-off has been in Nokia's division, but still they have also cut jobs for 5.5k engineers at Microsoft.

Also, this extract is not from Elop but from Satya.

@ satyan@microsoft.com: you are axing your own mother land people. Nokia is blindly trusted MS and now tasting the result of the deal.

                                RIP Nokia (Nokia just FYS)

Something Nokia is famous for, just dumping an OS in less than 6 months. The main reason I will never go to Nokia again after the N9 was abandoned.
