5800 is not suppose to be a iphone killer, thats just the buzz going round. This is Nokia's first touch screen phone that is going to reach as many people as possible at a competitive price, no high contracts and even a cheap if you buy the handset without a contract.
To be honest I prefer the 5800 its lighter and a big improvement on previous S60 software, setting up is a breeze and works great on the ovi store, even my eght year old daughter can use it.

5800 is lighter and smaller by volume than the iphone 3G.

      5800 - weight 109g, Volume 83cc. iphone 3G - Weight 133 g Volume 4.7 us oz thats 138.99cc.

Plus if you drop the iphone onto a hard surface its more likely to break something inside due to all that weight.

I have the 5800 and am very happy with it. Will buy the silicon cover+ protective screen immediately. Overall, great features and good build quality for the money. Yes, thicker than iPhone but ergonomics are still excellent and it remains quite light for its screen size. Removable battery, high resolution, handwriting recognition, Strong GPS w/MAPS, WiFi, etc. With the Nokia e-mail just available it's pretty slick. Not an iPhone killer...but serious competition given price point. Nokia did a fine job with the 5800.

                      It does make a difference.

[deleted post]I can have my iphone in a pair of suit trousers and you cant tell its there. With a 5800, its becomes really uncomfortable because its so thick. So yes, it is a brick.
And no, looking at iPhone sales vs. 5800 sales, Nokia quite clearly does not win.

[deleted post]The 5800 is fat compared to an iPhone, it's harder to slide into a pocket.

You can't even use the "Comes with Music" songs for ringtones, that's what I like about my iPhone, I can make my own unique ringtones from my music, none of my mates can leech them off me via Bluetooth, which I like because I am the only person on earth with my tones.

This will appeal to those who like a contract, don't mind the handset most probably having been tampered with softwarewise to suit the network operator, and are prepared to accept that due to the digital rights management limitations of the comes with music service they will only be able to listen to the tracks downloaded on their mobile and pc. Bear in mind that the total cost of this two year deal is £600 plus calls, etc. An alternative would be to buy the device for £249.99 SIM free from Nokia leaving you with £350 for your SIM and music purchases.
