There is a... moreThe reason the Xperia's outperform Samsung is because somehow - don't ask me why, to me it's a miracle - apparently samsung is not able to make a light proper software version of Touchwiz. They simply don't care that their latest flagships lags as hel because due to marketing the devices will sell. Yet it's just extremely pathetic that a friends brand new galaxy S5 can't handle swiping through the homescreens smoothly and my xperia Sp performs better. But they just won't make a lighter skin, unbelievable.

I really hope they keep up that spirit and don't see it as a current marketing strategy to play off the competition who's using QHD screens already, also CEO of Sony said a similar thing. Sony did a great job in finetuning battery life in Z3 (review tests will need to confirm that though), rather than putting a QHD and S805 chipset on it. However I still think they reserve it for Z4/Z5 or something.

Truth is: people mostly buy phones because of specs. QHD with higher resolution simply sells better. However I think smartphones aren't really innovating anymore. They all become faster, higher resolution screens and higher MP camera's, but at the end of the day almost all the people do is use it only for Whatsapp/internet. I think battery life, camera and user experience (software) are things that are truly worth considering updating rather than more pixels on the screen.

                  But it was true...

The reviewer made a subtle move browsing for Xperia Z3 on it....meaning " hey note! Look! This quad phone performs faster than your octacore! Why is that?!!! "

Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu, however, isn’t exactly bursting with excitement on the industry’s move towards even higher resolution display on relatively small devices. Huawei just launched the Ascend P7 that makes use of a 5", Full HD display. When asked about the move to QHD from competitors, Yu replied in an interview with Tech Radar, “I don't think we need QHD displays on mobiles. Your eyes totally cannot identify between full HD and 2K on a smartphone. You can't distinguish the difference, so it's totally nonsense

Yu added that two of the biggest knocks against QHD displays are cost and power. The cost factor is an obvious one with it being new-to-market technology that hasn’t sufficiently ramped up in scale. The power factor is also a big concern, because the appeal of pretty, high-resolution display is diminished if it drains your battery at an alarming rate.

Yu bluntly added, “[Your] eyes cannot see the difference, so why should we do that? I think it's a stupid thing."

Got a lengthy hands on with the Note 4 and Note Edge at ISA a few days ago.

                          1. Note 4: Fastest phone (or any phone/tablet) I have ever used. Even touchwhiz flies. Looks great with the metal edge.
                          2. Note Edge: Pure gimmick. It may look futuristic and be a showcase of curved display technology, but the Edge is difficult to hold (think about it) and having icons or text on the edge looks wrong and just isn't practical in real life use. Way better would be for the edge of the phone to be the same as on the Note 4, and have a thin separate display along the right edge that is at 90 degrees to the main display, not 45 degrees. This for showing time/date, messages, news tickers, name of book you are reading on Kindle/Google Books etc. And yes, make it touch sensitive for shortcuts as per current Edge display. And of course, make it always on, so use eInk or low energy AMOLED.

Almost a THOUSAND euros LOL. You'll be a fool to buy one for such a price. Actual price will be around €799 with retailers offering for less. Still too much money though it is a beast on paper. I still don't see the advantage of QHD over FullHD, I doubt it is going to equal LG G2/ Xperia Z2/ Z3(!) battery life..

It still kills in battery consumption, this is where blackberry and apple shines. Maybe Microsoft also soon because they said they will change Nokia to windows quite intriguing.

AnonD-97279, 11 Sep 2014Off topic...Other thing I have observed here lots of Indian... moreIt is said that people comment without themselves using it. The contracting process in india is poor and not popular. In places like Singapore , US , Europe most people buy costly phone on contract. Here is the reason why iPhone 5 (costed 48SGD on contract) is my primary phone.
I would say Andriod in itself is very stable, it is the fragmentation that kills the user experience and developer struggle to support each phone.
(My latest GS8.4 LTE did not support whatsapp and I have to use work around).
Also the service of these company who take out hordes of phone and push out unfinished buggy updated rendering phone useless (GS3 sitting in cupboard after 4.3 update and waiting for next fix for battery life which may never come).
Which company change your battery for free after 2 yrs.....I just today got the ip5 battery changed by apples under free battery replacement program, and never even felt that battery was an issue.
Not everything is good in Apple, like still they are pricy and without contract it is not reachable for most. The hardware is not premium for the price and body material easily scratches without cover. But for one thing I would be sure that if something breaks due to apple mistake it gets fixed immediately atleast don't have to put the phone on cupboard waiting for fix.....but sorry cannot say the same thing for Samsung. But still I use some samsung product which are unique in some way like GS8.4 (no one can beat that screen for movie watching). So when it comes for my primary phone I am recontracting with iP6/iP6+ this month even if my heart says Alfa is far better then iPhone6 but who knows Alfa may after one yr join my GS3 in the cupboard due to some half baked update.
