The S3 is still too good to justify the underwhelming S4 and partially even the S5...

Same old Samsung... They need 2 Gb of ram for an os supposed to work on 512 mb devices.
But we know: they need a lot of ram to be wasted by their bloatware

Though, isn't KitKat known to require less RAM than previous versions? Why, Samsung?

I have a galaxy S3 i9300 International version and I am using KitKat 4.4.2 on it for the last 3-4 months. I have had no issues using it, no lags, no force close, no hanging nothing. I am not sure why Samsung says that the hardware isn't compatible.

I am not using an AOSP version of the ROM like a Cyanogenmod or a Paranoid Android. I am using Archidroid's Note 3 port base with S5 framework and apps. It is running even faster than the stock Samsung s3 4.3 ROM.

So I do not agree with Samsung's justification, are the developers here on XDA more knowledgeable?

Just install Cynaogenmod 11 on your S3 and you will be happy .

                          Your phone will reborn again.

Gyus it's not even touchwiz. It's heavy but not that much. The reason is very simple, s3 is still owned by millions and they just want to make you buy the s4 or a latter model.

Hopefully the GT-I9305 gets the update too since it has 2GB of RAM.

There are still millions Galaxy s3 user and they have let them all down. They say 1gb of ram is not enough. Why are there so many devices with 512mb of ram running 4.4 very smoothly? But 1gb is not enough according to them?
